 How could I, while life seems dark,
   Adopt the rhythm of a lark?
“A poem” you ask, “with rolling beat,
   That’s meter makes me tap my feet.”
 Right now my heart in sorrow hangs,
   And rhythm only mocks my pains.
 I cannot write “de-dum, de-dum”
   While these burdens leave me numb.
 So if you’d dance, I’ll take a seat;
   My heart’s been broke and has no beat.
