I once knew a country girl
Her face tanned by the sun,
Feet that over mountains run
And each eye as a pearl.

I did love my country girl
Who took me in the night,
Held me at the growing light
Which shines bright as a pearl.

I have lost my country girl
That purest love is gone,
But our night together shone
As rainbows in a pearl.

Now I miss my country girl
Whose like I'll never see,
For I know she was to me,
More precious than a pearl.
So precious. As a pearl.
