Humanity

A mob taunted and threatened
Armed with bricks, sticks, stones, knives
Justice on vacation
They were there to end a life

"YOU DON'T BELONG HERE!!"
"GO BACK HOME", they screamed
Hatred in their eyes
Murder pulsing through their veins

Wife and children wailed and wept
As the mob broke through the door
He brought them here for freedom
But they were still refugees

They looked different
They spoke in a foreign tongue
Like those who had come before
He pled for mercy
His family wept
As the mob dragged him out the door

It could have been you
It could have been me
Torn away from our family
Once more revealing
The ugly face of humanity
