Click hereI don’t remember how it started or why it ever had to end,
But late at night I think of you, and how I lost my dearest friend.
He sees me cry and holds me close knowing the pain I feel,
Wishing you were here again, my fantasies all to real.
In his arms, tears flow free and I miss you more with each drop,
He sees the truth behind my eyes as he hushes me to stop.
He hopes his word will calm my fears and take away the pain,
But losing you has hurt me so and smiles become a strain.
I miss you so, my dearest friend, why did you have to go,
In losing you I’ve lost myself and the only truth I know.
Although you are gone, I see you still, reminding me of the past,
With every change, I see the change and your face is fading fast
Everywhere I go, I see your face before me,
And every night I cry for what we used to be.
Although I have someone who will never let me down,
I often think of you and what we once had found
But you are gone and all that’s left is a stranger in your place,
Yet, when I close my eyes, I remember just your face.
But when they open all I can see is an illusion from the before,
And once again, you’ll understand that I see you no more.
*This is dedicated to Tracy A. White who has gone away and left us with only the ghost of herself.
I felt the sadness deep within. Reminds my of a close friend that is no longer around. I can't think of any poem that stirred such feelings in me before. Thanks.
