Snowfall (1-5-03)

I sit in the window
Warm skin of my forehead
Pressed against the cool glass
Breath fogging the pane

Outside the leaves are snuggled down
Close to the earth
Resting
Changing
Over them lay a mantle of snow
Smooth
White
Quiet

On the trees where birds once sang
Lay lines of snow
White over the black branchs
Sparrows flit across the winter sky
Making me smile
Gaity in the dead of winter

The roost under my window
Hideing
As the snow begins to fall again.
