Click hereDenial is an art form that
Can be raised to perfection
A brilliant play
By a brilliant mind
A well turned phrase and
Conversation shifts
From topic to new topic
And no one knows the
Turmoil inside
Poised and cool to all
Who care to look and
Who could think it hides
A laceration of the soul
A gaping wound that
Time and care would heal
If allowed but that
Mortifies and blackens
In the darkness
Denial is an art form
Raised to new levels of
Masochistic devising
By one who wishes to hide
A coy smile and wicked wit
Are but illusions spun
Out of desperation
The need to hide behind
An imaginary strength
And let no one know
That the death of a soul is imminent
Denial is an art form used
By the genius and loved by none
As it rankles and hides each
From the light of honesty
And true friendship
Spinning its tangled webs with
Care and finesse to ensnare
Lost dreams forever to the
Pit of lies and intrigue
A brilliant play by a brilliant mind

denial is a deflection that keeps all others out and pain tightly bound. the ultimate bondage of one's heart and soul. you described it succinctly.
"Care and finesse to ensnare
Lost dreams forever to the
Pit of lies and intrigue"
Fantastic line, another kudos earned.
my first look overlooked the thought that went into this. The second looked revealed its beauty, I loved it, it reveals an acute clarity of introspection and hurt.
and takes a bit of genius to pull it off. Denial is a defense mechanism in which a person is faced with a fact that is too painful to accept and rejects it instead, insisting that it is not true despite what may be overwhelming evidence... Nicely done, thanks.
i hide from myself,
all the while it feels
rational,
i can justify just any
thing, watch. you'll see.
