Tears began to roll down his cheek. Emma found herself feeling sorry for him. He had spent all day desperately trying to find her. Despite his flaws, she knew he loved her. She took him by the hand.
"Come on Johnathan," she pulled him behind her out of the police station and toward the crowds heading toward the departing trains. She wondered if she could show him the way to cure her hysteria. If not, she knew she could find the one person willing to do it for her.
As she stepped into the train, she felt the roller coaster rumble the boardwalk under her feet one last time.

Unfortunately I didn't see Coney Island until it was well past its prime in the 1960s. Steeplechase was the last of the big parks to close around 1964.
