"You have fought bravely. Now it is time to rest. No more pain, no more suffering," she stated in the most soothing voice I ever heard.
"My heart has ached for you," I cried in a hoarse whisper.
"I know my fiery Gaul. You have much love for me as I have for you," twenty three said with deep affection.
Twenty three's words of endearment made my spirit soar with rapture.
"I have come to bring you home," she said with a tenderness that melted my heart.
Tears fell from my eyes, tears of happiness and elation
"Will we be together?" I asked in a failing raspy voice filled with yearning.
"Yes my love. Take my hand, it is not far," twenty three said in a caring voice with heartfelt fondness and extended her hand to me.
As the awful pain in my belly faded away, a profound sense of peace and solace washed over me. With my unwavering gaze on twenty three's beautiful face, I reached up and held her hand in mine

KumquatMayalmost 9 years agoThe ending was too foolish and contrived, it spoiled the depth and maturity of the two-part series. The story however is rich and well crafted. This was a profoundly stirring read and I am grateful you posted this. Thank you. Despite being underwhelmed by the ending you have 5 stars from me, because they're well earned.
