Click hereI was learning. I'd been learning all along. I was there, at university, doing pretty well for myself.
A part of my drive was an affection, to prove my self-worth to my parents, that I wasn't a waste of their time and energy. And a part was a snappy desire to prove them wrong, about any of the bad things they had ever said about me. Like I could rub their faces in it, then love them. And maybe help them when I was in a place to.
If they'd accept my help.
Romain's presence didn't really annoy me because he was an ex. By all standards, we were pretty good friends. It was what he was connected to, the constant reminder of something I wanted to forget.
I wasn't going back to that. People were never going to tell me what to do like that again.
