“Come on, ring the damn door bell. The shit takes too long baby cakes, I’ll ring it myself,” he murmured pinching her ass playfully as Lynne rang the doorbell.

***

Lynne was in mid chuckle because he was pinching her ass, when the door opened.

Her grandmother was every bit as beautiful as she remembered as a little girl, and she had that nice, buttery creole skin that never aged.

She was wearing an apron and as soon as the door opened, Lynne saw her eyes soften and fill with love. Funny how, she’d never recognized that really caring look until Leif taught her about that. She was so lucky. She felt surrounded by love right now!

“Lynne, Baby, my goodness, you’re a woman now, a beautiful woman,” said her grandmother.

“You’re beautiful too!” exclaimed Lynne, and she didn’t even wait for her grandmother to hug her, she threw her arms around her beautiful, trim grandmother.

Her grandmother didn’t see well, she camouflaged this with a pair of stylish amber colored shades. Like she did when she was small, her grandmother traced her facial features gently.

“Damn it, you couldn’t look more like me than if I’d spit you out myself, rather than through my daughter, look more like me than Gladys ever did!” said her grandmother, pinching her cheeks affectionately.

Lynne started crying with emotion when her grandmother pinched her cheeks. There were times when she wondered if she’d be able to see her granny before she passed away, and her man, her sweet Leif had delivered this dream for her just as she longed for. And the fact that he knew the secret longings of her heart so well, and the tender welcoming from someone in her family, her own blood, she just couldn’t contain her emotions.

“You’re still a damn crybaby aren’t you! I’m happy to see you too baby,” said her grandmother with a chuckle.

“I didn’t mean to cry, I just haven’t seen you in so long is all…Granny, this is Leify…I mean Leif, my fiancée’, well, he’ll be my husband in about six days, and my best friend Janelle,” said Lynne.

“Happy to meet both of you…Now I hope you all brought an appetite, because I wanted to fix a nice lunch for you before I sent you on your way,” said her Granny.

“Oh Granny I always have room for your cooking,” said Lynne.

They washed up for lunch, and ate quickly. Leif enjoyed the food, but she could tell it was spicier than her own cooking. Lynne’s cooking was also hotter than anyone else’s she knew…but no match for Granny. The heat from the meal showed up on Leif’s face, turning it an adorable red. She wanted to give Leif something substantial to redden his face for a better reason, and couldn’t wait until Saturday night, when he was red because he was on top of her, enjoying himself more than he’d ever been pleasured before, loving her hard and rough.

He may have been hard and rough with others, but he didn’t love those women, and so they didn’t belong to Leif. As far as she was concerned, she belonged to him now, and wanted to share all with him. The man would do anything for her, and she surely wanted to do anything for him, give him mind-boggling love and pleasure.

However, seeing Leif struggle with the hot food, Lynne’s maternal side kicked in.

“Baby it it’s too hot, let me eat some of your gravy,” said Lynne.

“It’s hot, but it’s good baby,” said Leif, even though he was coughing.

Lynne could tell it was delicious to him, but like the three little bears story she loved when she was a kid, his porridge, or the crawfish etoufee was just a little too hot.

A little while after Lynne offered to eat his gravy, he dumped the gravy for the crawfish etouffee on Lynne’s plate, while continuing to eat the crawfish and the rice. Lynne also got up and got him some Milk from her granny’s fridge to make him more comfortable.

“Milk will soak up some of the heat, sip it baby,” offered Lynne.

“Damn you’re so sweet and thoughtful. You’re a little firecracker too. I always tease you and call you that, but you eat that spicy food like there’s nothing to it, and you love it. Tenderhearted, and shy as you are, but you have a cast iron mouth and stomach. All that spice has to come out some where doesn’t it, I just want to be there when it does,” said Leif.

And he traced some stay gravy from the pad of her lip with his thumb, and sucked it into his own mouth, then sucked some gravy right out of the pad of her lip, unashamed and unembarrassed by this brazen display of warmth and sensuality even in front of her grandmother and friend.

Lynne blushed and giggled, and her grandmother quipped

“I’m not going to have any trouble getting some great grands with this one right here. You just be sure to bring all those babies you’re gonna be giving her right on back down to visit me often,” said Granny LaReux.

“Yes Ma’am,” offered Leif.

“How many babies will you give her?” cried her granny.

“Granny! Let us get married first! We promise at least two, but give us lots of time to practice first,” said Lynne grinning.

“We never discussed how many to have. But, I’m thinking I might like to have twelve. Six boys, and six girls. When you marry a beautiful woman like Lynne, you want to spread your seeds far and wide,” said Leif playfully stroking her knee.

“Well, you’re damn beautiful and I want my seed spread with you too, but how the hell will we feed all those babies. We need a compromise somewhere between two and twelve,” said Lynne playfully.

“Boy you might be fighting against yourself. Twelve babies. Gonna wear out your funbox there,” said her Granny.

Janelle laughed so hard, some iced tea went flying into her crawfish dish.

Right behind her was Lynne who was so taken off guard, she started to giggle and stutter-

“Granny!”

While Leif looked sober for a minute.

He looked at Lynne very seriously for a minute, and kissed the crown of her hair, smelling her hair. Then he murmured.

“Damn! Granny you are right. You’re the coolest grandma ever! I don’t want to ruin my favorite toy. Lynne your plan to have two kids sounds about right to me!” said Leif.

Now the women were really chuckling around the table.

“Maybe one more if they are both boys, or both girls so we can have at least one of each sex. But….three is the limit! Yeah. Leif, I like that, you weren’t even concerned about financial considerations. What got you to be reasonable was thinking about the fun box getting all stretched out,” said Lynne chuckling.

“Men!” cried her grandmother.

They all laughed a little more, and then Lynne changed the conversation.

“Granny, what happened to the tree in the backyard?” said Lynne.

Lynne was just noticing that the tree was gone. She’d wanted to climb it so much when she was younger. She was almost on her way to climbing the tree with her Granny’s supervision, when her father stopped her. He indicated that young ladies did not climb trees wearing dresses. He ushered her in the house to read a book.

Of course, Lynne soon found her way to the piano, singing and making melodies to occupy herself and have fun, but she kept staring out at the tree with longing. The next year, when they came to visit, her grandmother had bought her a jumper, in the right size, a denim material so she could play in the yard and climb trees.

This time, her father had another excuse, ladies don’t learn to climb trees, and he’d stifled Lynne. However, she’d longed to be outdoors, and her grandmother found her something that she could do, that her father would approve of that would become a lifetime passion of Lynne’s, gardening.
.
Lynne stopped daydreaming and returned to the present moment. It almost seemed like Leif could read a painful memory on her face, and he lovingly squeezed her fingers.

“You okay?” he asked gently,

“Yeah, I’m fine. The tree granny…what happened to it?” asked Lynne.

“Well, after Katrina, there wasn’t much support for that tree left, and it was rotten, so the neighbors and I pitched in and chopped it down, before it had a chance to fall on someone’s house. We’re lucky it didn’t fall then,” said her grandmother.

“Damn. I wish I’d gotten a chance to try to climb it before it got torn down. I’ve never climbed a tree before. Well I guess I’m too old for that now anyway,” added Lynne with a nervous chuckle.

Leif had turned to look at her, and his glance was tender.

He stroked her hair. Didn’t matter to him if Janelle and Granny were watching.

He pulled out his chair and pulled her into his lap.

“In my lap is where you belong right now. I…..I’ll make sure you get to climb a tree on our honeymoon. Oh hell Lynney, I don’t care what it takes, you’ll…you’ll climb lots of trees, and I’ll be there to catch you if you fall. Damn. I thought everyone had a chance to climb trees. I can’t wait to see the look on your face scooting up the tree. They’ll be lots of chances for you to play and have fun on this honeymoon, and that’s all I’ll say because it’s a surprise,” he added.

He dotingly rocked her in the circle of his arms and kissed her forehead. For Lynne, the affirmation that it was shitty that she couldn’t climb the tree, but would have a chance to do it as a grown woman was all that she needed. Just that Leif cared so much, and that, frankly, her best friend and grandmother cared that much too. It made up for a lifetime of hurt, even if she never got to climb the damn tree. Just the acknowledgement, the sympathy that it was indeed painful, and it was something she missed as a child that she should have gotten. The injustices of her earlier life were being made up for, ten fold now. She couldn’t wait for Saturday Morning to profess her love for this beautiful man before God! And she couldn’t wait until Saturday Afternoon to make him feel like he’d died and gone to heaven.

His voice was husky with emotion.

Lynne had to look away from him, so she didn’t get emotional. His heart was so full of love for her, she never felt she’d be able to help him see how much she loved the tender love he showered her with.

“The…the tire swing is out there still. Lynne I’ve got your favorite king cake. And, after you eat that, why don’t you go ahead and let him push you on the swing and work off some of that cake,” said her grandmother.

And she winked at Leif. Lynne didn’t understand why her grandmother was winking at Leif, but she figured she was being playful and fresh. Typical Granny.

She and Lynne would spend hours on the phone late at night, giggling and talking about musical and movie stars. Her Granny had great taste, and she liked younger eye candy in a playful way, so her playful wink at Leif didn’t seem out of character, and she knew her granny was only teasing. Little did Lynne have any idea, that was not the reason for the wink at all.

Lynne was thrilled to get a chance to get pushed on the tire swing. The tire swing was another thing she hadn’t been allowed to do, even though her grandmother had that tire swing put up in the other back yard tree specifically for Lynne to play with. It wasn’t lady like to play on a dirty tire swing, or something like that, her father had said. That was something for boys to do. As a ten year old, she remembered wishing she were a boy so that she could play in the yard, but knew even then, if she were a boy, her father would have some other excuse.

“Yeah Granny LaReaux, I’d love to push Lynney. Babe, you can’t go eating that cake like a Tortoise if I push you on the swing. We’ve only got about fifteen minutes left to our visit. We’ve gotta get back through airport security and get checked back in for the next leg of the flight,” said Leif.

Lynne wolfed her cake down, and licked the cinnamon from her fingers. She always licked the cinnamon off her fingers when her grandmother made king cake when she was small, if she could get away with it when her parents weren’t watching. Even now she liked to lick the icing from her fingers left over from a doughnut or another sweet treat. And now, that she was comfortable with Leif, she felt safe to let that side show a little bit.

Leif chuckled.

“You’re so fucking cute, you can’t even wait,” he added playfully wiping her fingers with a napkin from the table.

She grinned at him. He rewarded her emotionally when she was free with him, licking her fingers, having fun. Never once had he hurt her, since she’d met him!

“Come on Leif, let’s go,” cried Lynne happily.

“They act like teenagers! Lynne silly, and aided and abetted by Leif,” said Janelle with a chuckle as Lynne pulled Leif hard by his arm, and led him outside to the tire swing.

He pushed Lynne faster, and faster, higher, and higher, catching her by the waist and throwing her through the air, as Lynne clutched the tire swing for dear life. He spun her so fast and hard her stomach had the butterflies, but it was so much fun for Lynne. She laughed until tears poured from her eyes. She laughed loudly from the pit of her belly, unable to contain her joy.

As she giggled, she heard Lynne’s masculine chuckle, as she felt his arms firmly around her waist. As he pulled her back, he kissed her ear.

“Leif you’re the best swing pusher ever! You’ve gotta do this when we have babies! When they get like four or five, they’ll love it. If you push me so good, imagine how hard you can push our future five year old,” said Lynne, chattery and bubbly with happiness.

“You’re so damn cute. I love when you’re happy. You just become my fucking little motor mouth. What did you do with that shy little Lynney I met six months ago? I love the happy, giggly, motormouth version myself, I want you to tuck the shy Lynney away for a little while,” he whispered, then pulling her back and sending her sailing through the air as she squealed.

Sometimes he’d tickle her stomach before he let her free, and she squealed with laughter and delight before he filled her stomach with pleasure with the butterfly feeling when he pushed her hard in the air.

After five more minutes, he murmured-

“Okay Lynney, it’s time to go. Don’t be sad now,” he added stopping the tire swing gently.

As hard as he pushed her before, when it was time to stop, he held her to his body gently as a feather. Damn. He could be so gentle, and she knew instantly, even if he was rough with her, in the bed sometimes as her new husband, he would be so sweet and gentle to her in the after care. He was sending that message to her loud and clear right now.

He kissed her forehead like a princess.

“Did you have fun little mama,” he asked sweetly.

“Yeah I did, tons of fun, I can’t wait until we come back and visit Granny again,” said Lynne.

He offered her his hand to help her up.

“Then why the long ass face. You look like a sad little girl. Now I told you, we’ll have time to swing, climb trees, do whatever fun stuff you want to do on our honeymoon. You just make a list baby girl, of all the things you want to do with your new husband, and we’ll do all of them. But I just can’t stand this long ass face. It breaks me. God, what will I do with our children, I’m gonna be such a softy, sucker dad, I can’t even look at my wife to be’s puppy dog little eyes, and not want to give in,” said Leif playfully.

“I’m not sad. It was just so much fun, swinging on this swing like I always wanted to, and now it’s over…I just want to swing a little while more. Two minutes? Please? Then I can say goodbye to granny and catch the flight,” asked Lynne.

“Now you’re just fucking spoiled. You’re a bride, so this week will be the most fun week you’ve had in your whole life. This shitty tire swing is just the beginning. But…you probably didn’t do a lot of swinging growing up. I just promised you a second ago you’ll get lots of that on the honeymoon too. Piggy back rides, tree climbs, and swing pushes. I love to hear your laughter. It’s every bit as melodious as your voice on stage. Now that I’ll be your husband, not a day will go by where you don’t have at least one belly splitting laugh. But now is the time for you to scoot, if you want to get married to me, because we gotta get that flight babe,” he added.

He kissed her forehead like he adored her, and the warmth spread through Lynne.

“Well I will scoot, but first can I say that I want to make you laugh from your soul every day as well,” said Lynne dreamily.

And, she enthusiastically pulled his own face down to kiss him on his own forehead.

He grinned at her. It was a loving grin.

“I like that you are learning to manhandle me. It’ll come in handy for you later. Let’s go inside and say goodbye to granny. I know you’re sad about that too,” said Leif.

She walked beside Leif slowly, dragging her feet.

“I know you’re sad about that shit too, but we’ll come back and visit her. Maybe for Thanksgiving. I sure could eat more of her tasty ass cooking, best cooking I ever had, maybe besides yours, because granny is a little too spicy, I have to get used to it. But yummy and full of flavor! I’m already looking forward to thanksgiving, no damn turkey, I want that crawfish thingy,” said Leif.

“Crawfish etoufee,” said Lyne with laughter.

The entered the house again, and her granny was sitting in the living room.

Lynne hugged and kissed her granny goodbye.

“Lynne, I want you to help me with something in the bedroom. You see well, and I need help with it before I leave,” said her grandmother with a smile in Leif’s direction.

“Sure, sure granny, whatever you need,” said Lynne walking down the small hallway, past the bathroom and down to the end of the home, where her grandmother’s bedroom was.

The lights were off. She turned the lights on.

And that’s when she saw them.

Two red clamshell suitcases, completely packed. It couldn’t be! There was no other reason for Granny to have suitcases unless she was boarding the last leg of the flight with them. That sweet, beautiful man! How lucky she was that he chose her to be his wife to be!

“Damn it I’m sorry I ever doubted you baby! Oh Leif, you’re the sweetest Liar ever! I can’t believe you knew the whole time we were bringing her! You let me think we were just stopping for lunch! All this time you knew, while we were eating, laughing, playing on the swings! You’re such a shit, fooling me like that! Oh god I love you so much! What a shit you are! God I love you so much Leify! Thank you so much baby,” shouted Lynne.

She heard Janelle and her grandmother chuckling with happiness, now that she’d found her surprise.

Her emotions took her over. She didn’t reach for the suitcases.

She ran back into the living room and pounced in his lap hard, kissing him. Then she backed up a little…she didn’t want to hurt him with her enthusiasm. She remembered being too eager when she was younger and getting rebuffed, and she clearly remembered being rebuffed at the hands of her cruel ex-boyfriend even though neither slight hurt her anymore.

But she pounced on Leif so hard, she worried she might have hurt him. She was working on curbing the level of her enthusiasm sometimes, but her emotions had been stifled so much growing up, that sometimes when she was happy she couldn’t contain herself. She could clearly see that she startled Leif at first, he didn’t expect her to pounce on his knees, but next, she saw such warmth and tenderness for her in his glance. He just adored her. And his lips curled into the biggest smile. And he winked at her.

“See how damn cute you are? Is there a long lost Aunt we can find so I can get another hug like that? I don’t think you’ve ever squeezed me so tight before, but I love it baby,” he added dotingly.

Shit! It was almost too much, the love she saw there. She wanted to cry. This man was not about to rebuff her just because she lost her head and pounced on him like an anxious kitten. No. It was all different now, and she needed to relearn a lot of her former programming. That was what caused her so much shit, and made her mistrustful of Leif, when he was putting together the surprise in the first place. New home, new love, loving husband to be, and different rules. He wasn’t turned off by her overenthusiasm, even though it had irritated her parents, and that harsh ex of hers!
