It was all coming back to me now as the Barron prattled on. Neko and I had taken refuge in the Soltaran system where we were able to elude our pursuers for a little over two years, that is until we were betrayed by our dear brother who was standing next to our Mother and Father, the Queen and King of what was left of the once mighty Annunaki Empire.

We were supposed to be taken to Annu for a trail before a military tribunal, but the only thing we could be assured of there was a show trial before a kangaroo court. Mother, Father, and the military all knew we were guilty but wanted to at least put on a trial that made it look like the fix was not in. Our advocate, the Royal Solicitor, and the General Confessor came up with a compromise that would have our trial on an impartial world, but that was easier said than done. Our crime was great and our infamy was well known across the galaxy. The only hope of an impartial verdict was to hold our trial on a planet that had no interstellar travel or communication systems. Ontar Three was their choice as this planet was still in its Iron Age but had a justice system that would understand the crime of mass murder and would be able to punish us accordingly. Technically the charge was genocide, but the Ontari did not understand what genocide was, so mass murder was a suitable alternative in this case.

Father just wanted the issue to be resolved quickly and after we were found guilty he wanted our sentence to be carried out on Annu, which Mother would not hear of. The prescribed method of execution on Annu for murder or genocide involved the use of a pain chamber. The chamber stimulates the pain receptors of the body incrementally until the prisoner's brain is literally fried by the intensity pain impulses that it is receiving. The process starts out at a low setting which is a mild discomfort, and then the level of pain is increased until death occurs. The convict is fed and evacuated by artificial means and the sentence is carried out over a thirty-day period, sometimes longer in the case of a crime as heinous as ours. The whole ordeal is televised on the Royal Justice Video Network as a warning of what will happen to those who unlawfully take the life of another Annunaki. This is why Mother insisted that the King have the sentence carried out here, as a simple hanging would be more humane for her daughters than the pain chamber would be.

While my mind was still processing the data that had been dumped into my memory center, the Barron concluded his prepared statement and ordered the execution to commence. However, as the executioners made their way behind us our father spoke up and asked that his Royal Physician tend to us for a moment before the sentence was carried out. I knew exactly what this meant for Neko and I. The Resurrection Protocol would be disabled to deny us rebirth after our execution. My memories tell me that that Neko and I were counting on our father the King to allow us to regenerate after our execution, but the shame that we had brought to our family angered him so much that he would deny us another life. As we waited for the Royal Physician I could see mother pleading with father but his facial expression told me that he was not listening to her words.

The Royal Physician took up a position behind Neko and pressed his sonic sequencer against the base of her skull and activated it. I could here a soft buzzing sound as Neko's body began to tremble. The Resurrection Protocol was a program imbedded in the brain stem that served as a backup for life experiences and memories. It also maintained our genetic code so that in the event of death the body would repair its self according to the genetic information on file. In the event of brain damage, the memories and such that were stored before death would be restored with usually no more than a day's worth of memories being lost. Sometimes this was a blessing, as memories of a gruesome or painful death were not recorded.

My turn was next and like Neko my body responded to the reprogramming as hers did. Once the process was complete the physician left the gallows platform and the executioners placed a black hood over our heads. Once we were in total darkness a noose made of thick coarse rope was slid over my head and secured around my neck. I knew that the end was near and while I had accepted my fate, my only regret was that I could not hold Neko's hand or hug her as our final moments together came and went.

The Barron once again repeated the charges against us then pronounced our sentence. I heard a bell ring out once from the vicinity of where the Barron was speaking. A second later a drum roll began behind us followed by a loud click. A split second later the floor fell way from under my feet and my neck jerked violently.

The next time my eyes saw a glimmer of light I found myself in a sitting position, my body was wrapped loosely in a white silk shroud. My mind struggled to understand if this was another memory or if it was real, but it could not have been either since the Resurrection Protocol was turned off. I had been through resurrection before and this experience seemed much different than in the past.

My senses told me that whatever I was seated in or seated on was moving, and moving at a great rate of speed. My first thoughts were that the Royal Physician botched the procedure for turning off the Resurrection Protocol, but there was something else happening here too. There were competing memories and thoughts swimming around in my head and something told me to think about removing the shroud that covered me. I thought long and hard and after several attempts like magic the shroud was removed and I found myself sitting naked in the cockpit of a fast moving craft.

My thoughts were still very disorganized, and trying to make sense of where I was and what had happened was getting me nowhere. From the back of my mind an internal voice sent the words, "flight suit" as a command, and when I processed the command as a thought I instantly found myself dressed in a tight white shimmering flight suit with the blue crest of the Annunaki Royal family centered above my left breast.

As my memories were compiled and organized by the Resurrection Protocol I began to realize that there were other memories in my mind as well, memories that were not mine. I tried to focus on those memories as I tried to understand where I was and what the displays in front of me were all about. I could tell that contained in the other set of memories was information on the readouts that my eyes were studying. I knew I was in a craft of some sort and that it was of Annunaki design, but it was too modern, and much more advanced than anything that I had ever seen before.

As I studied the controls and readouts I heard a noise behind me and realized that I was not alone. The seat I was in was high and blocked the other person's view of me so I knew I had some time to try to figure everything out. The Resurrection compiler was still running and after my memories were restored and compiled I felt a competing set of memories beginning to merge with my own memories. The incoming data was from a creature named "Kitty" who was created on the other side of the galaxy from my home world of Annu.

I did not access all of her memories as they were merged with mine but from time to time I would look at an item here or there and found that she was a very interesting creature. From what I could see, her life was filled with conflict, pain, and sex... a lot of sex... too much sex I thought from what I was seeing of her memories. I finally realized what was happening as our memories were merging. I also realized that somehow my thoughts and memories had been dumped into some inter galactic human space slut that was genetically engineered on a small planet called Udon.

The more sex I came across the more my own memories of reproduction came to the forefront of my mind. In ancient times we procreated in the same manner that Kitty was so fond of. In modern times it was only the low born of my culture that did such primitive and disgusting things. The peasantry could not afford the clinical methods of reproduction that the upper class and the Royals could. In my pervious incarnation I took great pride in having kept my virginity in tact for over forty years, and I was horrified to find myself in the body of a girl that had been mounted more times than the cavalry horse that she used to ride in the Kreetin army.

I was beginning to understand more about the craft that I was flying in, and I could tell that we were on autopilot. I kept studying the displays and when the craft made a preprogrammed turn to starboard I could see myself reflected in the data display screen. My hand moved to touch my face, as what I was seeing was impossible for me to believe. Even though my fingertips were playing over my eyes, cheeks, nose, mouth and chin I felt as if my senses were deceiving me.

At the time of my execution I was forty-seven years old, but here I was looking at an image of myself from when I was around sixteen. The Resurrection Protocol was supposed to restore the body to its pre-death condition, not regress the body to post puberty like had happened here. I suspected that at this point the thoughts and experiences of Maew had assumed a dominant position in the brain of this Kitty person. It did not take me long while probing Kitty's memories to come across the details of how she had been constructed by corporate contract using blended DNA from a few unknown sources. I was not happy with the realization that I had gone from being a pedigreed blue blood Royal to being a genetic mutt, but the up side to all of this was that I was once again alive.

So here I was, an Annunaki Princess stuck in the body of some overly promiscuous alien post pubescent genetic experiment from and inferior species that had probably perished from some sexually transmitted disease on some far off world. My only theory is that unbeknownst to her, the Resurrection Protocol from my DNA was still active and when her body was healed and her mind rebooted, my memories and experiences took over, but thankfully her memories were restored and merged with mine. At least now I had an idea what had happened and I understood more about where I was and what was going on.

As I searched her memories to confirm my theory I came across an "anti-agapic" conversion process that her body had gone through just after her eighteenth birthday. There was not a lot of information on this contained in her memories, but I did find enough data to know that just like our Resurrection Protocol, her anti-agapic was kept a secret from her lower caste people as well. The process used on Kitty was still in its trail stages and not as advanced as ours even though it appears that that they obtained their knowledge of Resurrection from their archeologists who were studying the remains of the Annunaki race.

Having understood the medical aspects of what had happened to me my exploration of Kitty's thoughts and experiences told me that our old ancient enemy had returned and that Kitty and this Colonel Connor sitting behind me were on their way to warn their people of a pending assault on one of their worlds. From what I could tell from her memories, their technology was less advanced than ours was prior to my execution, but this craft that we were flying in was light years ahead of anything that I had dreamed possible.

While I studied their technology for going faster than light without a jump engine, I remained as if still dead or in a comatose state to so as not to traumatize the Colonel. After all, most primitives such as her would panic if they were enclosed in a two-person cockpit with an obviously dead woman who inexplicably came back to life. The last thing I needed was her pulling out her sidearm and blasting me through the back of the head like the zombies depicted in those cheesy movies that Kitty's friends seemed to be so fond of.

As I examined the body that I had been restored into from the inside out I came across Kitty's PDA and all of the files that she had created and stored there. There was more data to go through then was possible given the length of our trip, but I did find her journal and vowed to keep up with it in the same manner she had. I found Kitty's installed Annunaki wireless system that even though she had died, was still connected to this ship of the Koloth class. She was also still receiving signals from an AI named Sheba and the Colonel sitting behind me. Now that I knew our mission, and the capabilities of this new body, I was ready to announce myself to Colonel Connors.

We were a few hours from our destination, which was a former Annunaki mining colony for precious metals, but now it was operated by an Earth corporation owned by someone named Hugo Drax. Using my link to the ship's data system I determined that the mine was one that was run by my people long after my execution. The space station in orbit over the mine was of human construction and served as a transfer point for cargo and a passenger hub for military personnel stationed in this quadrant. There also was an advanced life support facility on the station that was capable of tending to injured miners and wounded military.

Once learning this I contacted my traveling partner by wireless. I could her an excited gasp emanate from her lips as she was startled by the wireless signal when there was no one around that should be able to contact her at such short range. Of course she asked the obvious question, "Who is this?" At first she did not believe that it was the dead girl in the front seat but at least her military training kept her from panicking.

I knew enough about Kitty now that I could be her during this conversation and explain things in a manner that the Colonel would understand. Megyn knew that I was Annunaki and that we were both humanoid, but she did not know how divergent her people were from mine. Neither did she know that to some of us higher caste Annunaki, death was not always permanent. I did my best to explain this to her as we made our approach to Drax Station 1183. Once she understood, or at least once I thought she understood I informed her that something had gone wrong in my reanimation process and that she would need to get me to a physician once we landed.

I thought that I had explained my medical situation calmly to Megyn so as not to cause a panic but when I heard her announce to Drax Station Control that we had a medical emergency on board I was a bit embarrassed. I found myself afflicted with toxemia combined with a steadily worsening case of hypo volumetric shock. I knew somehow that this was related to Kitty's death but there was a gap of the last few hours of her life that left me guessing. Kitty's installed PDA gave me a clue as to what had happened, but did not tell the whole story. While it did not record the mechanism of her death, it did monitor her life signs up to the point of her demise.

From the readouts it was clear that she was in a lot of pain and perhaps torture was involved given the pain index recorded on her PDA. Also noted was a chemical imbalance, but the composition of chemical was listed as, "unidentified." I can only surmise that there was an over abundance of something that had been injected into her without her consent. My current reading of my life signs were telling me that while my body was trying to fight off some sort of infection and purge an over abundance of fluids that had been retained after death that my advanced healing properties could not eliminate. I looked myself over and expected to notice some disfigurement from the additional fluid but other than my flight suit fitting a bit tighter than Kitty remembered it, all seemed normal externally.

I was thankful that this Koloth class ship had an advanced autopilot, because what I could gather from Kitty's memory, the Colonel behind me had zero flight experience with this ship and I was in no condition to land the ship manually. Once the Koloth was secured to the deck and the landing bay was pressurized I was assisted from the cockpit by several strong men attired as rescue workers. As the medics tended to me, Megyn was off conversing with the docking supervisor. As I was wheeled out of the hangar bay I used my internal data port to issue orders for the Koloth to secure its self then issued a sixteen character unlock code in an ancient Annunaki language that I was sure no one here would know about except me. I did not want any of these strangers messing about in our ride out of here.

I was taken to a place they called, "Sick Bay" where a physician and his assistants were waiting for me. By Annunaki standards this place looked as if it should be run by a witch doctor, but by Kitty's standards its level of sophistication was acceptable. I was covered with a thin white sheet and was asked to remove my flight suit. Thankfully I knew how to operate the wardrobe device because there was no way I had the strength to stand and get undressed by myself. The physician pulled back the sheet to expose my chest and torso to reveal a large crop of scars. He ran his fingers over each and traced them across my belly and down to my more private parts. I think he was as shocked as I was that so many scars could be on a woman that was still living, but unbeknownst to him I had died and was still in the process of healing. Upon seeing this he immediately ordered an IV anti-biotic drip and several bags of natural biologic fluids to deal with my obvious case of dehydration. I was also connected to a machine that was designed to filter my blood and remove the built up toxins that remained after my resurrection. I have to admit that his instincts were correct as to my condition. My infection and loss of fluids were later confirmed by the scans his assistants would conduct later.

Before the physician turned me over to his assistants he injected me with a sedative. He knew that my body needed rest and I did too. Over the course of my original life I had died unnaturally seven times and I knew that my advanced healing processes worked best when I was asleep. The resurrection process normally took around twenty-six hours to complete unless there was severe damage, and in the case of Kitty's injuries I suspected that it could be two or three more days before we were fully recovered.

I slept peacefully through out the night except for the few minutes when one of the medical assistants came in to add an anti-viral to the medication that I was receiving by IV. A second med tech joined the first and checked my vitals, and for a few minutes I was able to listen as they discussed my condition. They detailed the course of my treatment and mentioned that I would need to remain in the sick bay for at least a week to recover fully. Given the mission that Kitty and the Colonel were on, I knew that I could not say here that long and that we had to be leaving this station within the next twenty four hours if we were to warn Central Command in time for them to evacuate.

The sedative they repeatedly administered to me kept me out for the next seventeen hours. When I opened my eyes I found that I was the subject of a conversation that was going on between two physicians and Colonel Connors. The conversation centered around my physical condition that had improved greatly over night, in fact I had improved so much that the physicians called for someone from maintenance to come to the sick bay to check on the accuracy of their scanners and probes. Another point of discussion that included the Colonel was the state of my eyes. Kitty had to deal with this at least once that I could tell from her memories concerning a near death experience.

Humans from her time and place have multi-colored eye centers surrounded by a field of white. This is not so of the Annunaki. Our eyes are solid black with no deviation of color. This allows us to see equally well in the day and the night and in environments where there is no light at all. The physicians were quizzing the Colonel as to the condition of my eyes and I over heard her assuring her that they were multi-colored before my death. Of course her mentioning my death only got her an additional round of questions from the medical staff. I so wanted to listen in to her explanation of my demise but I did not think that the others should know everything about my capabilities. Therefore, with that thought in mind I mustered as much strength as I could and sat up, then slipped out of bed. I disconnected myself from the bags of fluid that they were giving me and walked over to the discussion group and asked if I was cleared to leave.
