We scrambled to get her dressed again and act like nothing had really happened. Barely speaking a word and catching sly glances as we both got dressed.
After she gained her footing once more, and showed me to the door she plucked my tie from the counter top. "I suppose you'll want this back?"
I smiled at the supposedly mild mannered librarian and shook my head. "No, you can keep that. A souvenir if you like." I kissed her one last time and left the store.
After a few blocks in the gentle mist of early evening, I reached into my coat pocket and drew out the simple gold chain. There was indeed a locket attached to it. Opening it, revealed a picture of Stacey with her pet dog.
"You are good at the innocent routine aren't you?" I laughed out loud as I realized that I'd been taken completely in this last twist of events.
