Dannie was unpacking one of the few boxes that had come from her apartment while Red made coffee as she read the local paper.

"Fuck!" Red swore loudly.

"What's the matter?" Dannie asked concerned.

"John Martin has been found dead. He was shot in the head at close range or so the police report says."

"As in the John Martin that raped you?" Dannie asked.

"Yes I think so." Red's voice sounded a little unsteady.

"Hey." Dannie said wrapping her in a tight hug. "At least he isn't going to hurt you or any other woman again. If you ask me he got what he deserved."

Red's head came up, the familiar fire in her eyes. "Yes you're totally right. I'm not shedding a single tear for that scumbag."

"Exactly." Dannie agreed as she planted a quick kiss on her lips. "I've just got one or two things to put away then we can get food."

"Cool." Red said, a smile returning to her face. "There's a neat place I know not far from here that does great Italian. I'll see if I can get us a table."

Dannie smiled as Red scampered away to find a phone. There was nothing she wouldn't do for Red. Bending down she retrieved the last box to go in to the closet. She briefly opened the lid to look at the Anaconda lying snugly in all its nickel plated glory.

The lid closed again, hopefully she would never have to open the box again, but if the need to end another life arose then she had the perfect tool for the job.

I think this story is far and away a beautiful exposition of what happens when two broken people come together and heal each other's pain. The execution of John Martin was somehow not repulsive, but welcome.

John Martin interesting

Loved the story, the John Martin shooting execution put an interesting question to ponder.

If someone hurt my love, there wouldn't be a hole deep enough, or rock large to hide under, to escape justice.

Loved the story

A beautiful story with hard beginnings but leading to total joy and happiness. And yes I cried whilst reading it, I knew I would.

Beautifully done!

Well written and you've found my weakness of them falling in love! It's a very yummy story too... I love the ending, as it was fitting but not dwell on it! Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

I love this story on so many levels: tragedy to triumph; life to near death to living fully again. Moreover, what a surprise ending. Tho I'm ambivalent about it, I will say, sometimes it's Good to Bad. Great job TrueMort

I’ve read all your posted stories and this is definitely my favourite. It’s consistent all the way through with a thematically logical narrative. Of course parts of it are also damn hot, which never goes astray.

Outstanding

This is the first story of yours that I've read. I have friends that I've sent this link to that have been to those places, (military / depression) I've asked them to just READ this and think. I seriously hope they do. I know sometimes we hope that life can imitate what we read, but what you wrote ... It's true life on more ways than most people understand. I know it's not much, but from me to you, and for my friends..

Thank you!

I love your series “Tale of Two Switches,” but this was even better. Totally agree with Maonaigh, well worth 5 stars! Simply a well written, beautiful story. Could feel the depression, the passion and the love. Look forward to reading more!

Good read!

Took reading it twice to figure out what went "click" in Danielle's head in the hospital after the accident was getting the chance to fly a medical evacuation helicopter again. It kind of reads what caused the "click" was meeting the child's mother/Karl's daughter so was initially surprised when she disappeared from the narrative. Of course, if the story unfolded that way, Danielle's interaction with Karl and the other staff might have been quite different as well.

Awesome!

This is a truly fine and powerful story. Great characters and a gripping topic. I've loved everything of yours that I've read. Can't wait for more!

Incredible Story

Just as powerful the second time around.

The only thing that would make it better would be a change to the epilogue in which John Martin's severed testicles were found stuffed in his mouth, and the coroner's report determined that he was alive when it happened.
