Click hereWhen John tried to explain about the constable the captain stopped him and told him there was no constable working on the island. Neither was there any private ownership. The center island was a game reserve owned by the state. That particular beach was so clean because his friends had just finished a big party there and were diligent in leaving the island better than they found it. Finally John asked about honking the horn rounding that bend. The captain replied that it was required before coming around that particular blind inlet.
Feeling confused and a little foolish they thanked the captain and headed back to the ship. As John turned around one last time he saw "the constable" at the edge of the pier with a pair of binoculars laughing hysterically as he stepped into the captains boat.
"Well", John thought, "the joke's on him. At least we enjoyed ourselves, he only got to watch." He never told Lyn what he saw. But he did manage to get her e-mail before they parted company. He felt certain they would meet again.
