Somehow, we forgave each other, but it wasn't easy. A week after Samuel left, two-dozen long stemmed roses were delivered to my desk. One dozen came with a card was from Charles telling me how much he loved me, and the other dozen was from Samuel apologizing for the deception. That evening, an expensive bottle of pink champagne was delivered by FedEx with a note that said, "Charles, We're even. Samuel."
From then on, we only shared our fantasies and lived them out with each other. Samuel was a lesson we both needed to learn the hard way and I never distrusted Charles again.
