Kevin was really excited as he got out of the shower and got dressed for his first date with Shannon. "I think I might call up one my friends and go have a few drinks." She answered.

Kelly waited until she heard the car drive down the driveway and then down the street. She got the phone and called Jack's house, she breathed a sigh of relief when he answered and not one of his parents.

"Do you want to come over tonight?" she asked. "Kevin should be gone for a few hours on his date."

"Why don't I take you on a little date tonight." He suggested.

"Where ever should we go and not get caught by anyone we know?" she asked.

"Wait a few minutes and go for a walk, I will come by and pick you up and we can go a few miles out of town for ice cream." He said

"No honey your father is taking me over to grandma's for a game of canasta so why don't you take his truck." His mother suggested. "Thanks mom." He said taking off. Kevin and Shannon got to the restaurant and the hostess sat them at a nice table for two in one of the dining rooms. "Nonsense Kevin if you enjoy something like astronomy as much as you say you do it should be easy for you to major in it in college." She explained. "I could help you in some of your other classes if you need it."

"Wow thanks Shannon." He said smiling from ear to ear. "But, I do not want to interfere in your college life. I know your older and probably have lots of friends and maybe a boyfriend at back at college."

"I only have a few friends at school, I pretty much stick to the books." She answered as the salads and sodas arrived.

"No boyfriend?" he asked.

"No boyfriend." She said.

"Well that is quite a surprise that you do not have a boyfriend, you are very pretty and great to talk too." He said.

"See you got to know me at work first before you asked me on our date, not when you just saw how pretty I am. That is why I accepted to go out to dinner with you tonight." She explained.

"I have to admit I have never met anyone like you and if you allow me I would like to pursue a relationship with you." He said. "We can take it real slow and get to know each other more."

"Kevin I would like that very much." She said. "It is nice to be with someone who is sweet and sincere." She answered.

"I guess you could say you have a boyfriend." He said picking a radish out with his fork.

"Wow I guess I do." She answered. "By the way you are fired from your job at the record store."

"I have a rule that I do not date anyone I work with." She said.

"That is alright if it means I get to date you." He said. "I will find something else or maybe do lawn care with Jack."

"You certainly are a good enough worker so you should not have any trouble in that aspect." She said.

"Enough about jobs and me, I want to know all about you." He said looking into her beautiful green eyes. Kevin sat for the next couple of hours listening to Shannon, he was fixated on her every word. After dinner Kevin suggested his walk through the park idea and it was convient because it was only a couple blocks from the restaurant. She accepted his invitation and he stopped by the car to retrieve his letterman jacket for her to wear to keep warm in the cool night air. After the stroll was over he drove her home and he got out to let her out of the car. Then he escorted her up to the front door of her parents home, they said their goodnights.
