Finally, Slate gave one final embrace, pressing himself against Ebony, feeling the body against his; he then pulled away, meeting the eyes as they searched for any excuse, any reason, anything. The figure moved toward the door, then, changing her mind slipped further into the shadows, pulling her cloak back over her body. Slate turned, opened the door, and started to leave. As he stepped out, he noticed the rain-mixed blood. He turned to face the healer, bowing as a final thanks, and disappeared into the shadows towards his quarters, the rain dripping down his naked body.
