I continued to gently move in her as she came down, drawing out whatever feelings she had left. At some point, she held my ass to get me to stop; she had become too sensitive to continue. I stayed on top of her, kissing her but not moving. Her breathing gradually slowed, as did mine.

I eventually rolled off of her and held her to my body. Both of us let the warmth of what happened slowly drift away.

"Oh, my," she said. I agreed.

We stayed like that, cuddling, until we fell asleep. When I awoke, she was breathing slowly. I held her in my arms and thought about her and us. I didn't know if there was an "us," but it felt like there should be. She felt so perfect in my arms.

She woke up a while later and turned to me, a smile on her lips. I smiled back and gave her a kiss. "That was truly incredible, Robert," she said. "Where did you learn to do that?"

"It's amazing what you can find on the Internet," I responded. "I assume you approve?"

"Yes," she said, "but don't do that too often. I'm not sure I can survive another one anytime soon."

"How about in an hour or two?" I asked.

"Okay," she said with a smile and a kiss.

She left that day, but came back on Sunday. She had a picnic basket packed and we went out to the park for a nice lunch on what would be one of the better days of the year. I couldn't stop looking at her, how perfect she was. And I couldn't stop thinking about me, how broken I was. She was fixing me, and would continue to do so, but it was going to take a lot of work. She made me realize that Harriet was right all those years ago: it had nothing to do with me. And Amy was right: people who go for a change generally bring the problem along with them. Amy continued to make art and continued to bring welding jobs to me. My business picked up and I eventually had enough money to buy a house. It took a while, but I found the courage and Amy said yes. After that, in addition to making art, we made a few babies and we made a life together. It's funny how you can never tell how something will turn out until it happens. And if you're lucky, it'll turn out very well indeed.

sorry but nothing really happened. the "there were no survivors" surprise was fantastic but the rest of it didn't connect with me.

This story started with an arc and then just fell off a cliff. The whole marriage and cheating didnt drive the plot or character development beyond a few sentences and that includes your last paragraph. I would argue this story is more about welding than romance.

If you ditched the meaningless marriage details, first job and skipped over to meeting his new love interest (the one you spent zero time actually developing as a character) this MIGHT work in erotic couplings. Barely.

I really liked this story. It was well written but short. I thought I'd follow but the Author has been Inactive for over 4 years, too bad! 5 BIG ASS FUCKING FLAMING NOVA STARS!

5 stars and Yes, some of us out here are weld inspectors, with more than 40 years of x-ray experience. Stainless steel melts @2700F and the TIG arc is about 3500F and it fluctuates depending on amperage, distance, diameter of filler rod, type of shielding gas, etc., there is also plasma arc, which is even hotter. Other than that minor error most of what you explained was pretty good for a non-journeyman. Oh and I liked your story.

Fair

We are on Literotica so I suppose that sex is supposed to be the key element of a story. There is just so much you can do with that aspect of the story and i guess it's always an issue about where you put the sex and how explicit you are and how much you insert. This author had story to tell and plunked in the sex where it seemed most appropriate. Strangely I found it to be a distraction.

This story was really rushed at the end and somehow I was left with a somewhat hollow feeling that i didn't know Amy at all and Robert was mostly an unknown. And being a perpetual nitpicker I was distracted by the obvious error of the temperature of the welding arc. It is impossible for anything to withstand 30,000 degrees (didn't mention F or C, but I assume you meant Fahrenheit) I looked it up to check my memory and they talk about different types of welding arcs being 2000-2800 degrees C which would be around 4000-5000 degrees F (2000 C is exactly 3632 degrees F, 2800 is 5072), all clearly nowhere near 30,000 F. 3* for an interesting plot not fully exploited.
