Thanks for another great chapter.
Thanks also for another classic throw-away line: 'Areola 51' (strip club that Shino's(?) assignment was walking home from). LOL
How in the heck did I not notice he is an empath the first time I read this. I wonder do other progenitors normally develop that ability. Empathy is the first stage of telepathy
Multi-tasking
Mr. Blake's to do list is getting a bit long.
Did they just attack a military base and a small fleet? Just wiped them out in a one-sided fight.
All while getting new tech, healing Calara, healing Dana, operating & "healing" the rescued woman and recovering from the assignation attempt.
Coming to terms with new abilities by trial and error. There has to be a better way.
What is Alyssa up to now?
John said to Jade, stay safe don’t take risks, after jumping with his ship between a big gathering of hostile ships….. weird
An earlier commenter, FVLLN3 - from a little over a year ago, mentioned that John was 'getting more perceptive' because he was developing his Empathy... and "how could I not have not noticed this when I read these chapters before"... also, that Empathy is supposed to be an early sign of developing Telepathy... It's rather amazing what you can see more clearly during a re-reading, and Tef's series is truly worth the reread! (My 3rd time so far) ... ;-) TTFN
Several major things in this chapter made this a very enjoyable read, ... 1) electing to save/restore Sakura, a group effort, ... 2) the battle in the Mar'Katrach nebula, and the destruction of its Kintark refueling and ammo resupply base: the Invictus is a real beast, with its power and sensors advantages, slaughtering the lizardmen's ships, ... 3) getting word of the traitor, Admiral Leonard Norwood's defection and his ships attack on the battle groups' ships that wouldn't join him, ,,, 4) a short update on the fate of the cowardly Master Assassin, Amatsu Mikaboshi, and his eventual return, ... ;-) TTFN
Why do people think Sakura will join the crew as a legal expert? I think she made it pretty clear that she's disillusioned with the law now.
The fight in the Lizzard Nebula to destroy the military resupply base. So everyone is blind in there… too many targets and not enough time? Why didn’t the Invictus destroy the nav beacons that the lizards were following? The beacons by definition are made to be found, so how difficult could it have been? Then shoot everyone from out of the ‘dark’ after that.
Evil still pervades, looks as though the Invictus gets another crew member in their fight for justice.
The wonderful, shooting Lizards in a barrel, nebula battle, and then the lengthy operation to rescue Sakura (the next new member of John's lovely crew?), ... also, Master Assassin Mikaboshi's taking of a FTL capable ship, ... with Revenge sought by both Sakura and Mikaboshi, ... should be interesting in the next chapters, .... ;-) TTFN
-- Evil Cyborg Assassins, Deadly Lizard-men, and damn Political games in the Admiralty, ... the fun just doesn't stop, ...
-- and I still think that they should save this version of the Invictus to gift to Charles, but later, ... just remove the Nova Lances, then add a few (Dana) upgraded Heavy Cannons, and Brimorian Shields, and Charles will just love it, ... a great retirement present, ... ;-) ttfn
So, John let 100.000 enemy infantry live to fight another day because he felt bad for them.
