**Authors Note: Hey everyone again! I want to thank you all for taking the time to read my first chapter and writing helpful comments back to me. It really does mean a lot to me. Sorry, there isn't any sex in this chapter, and probably not even in the following one, but it is coming! Lol. I just don't want to rush the story. Enjoy! And please comment. I tired to make this chapter longer than the first one but I had to stop where I did. I promise you, that you won't be disappointed with the length of the next chapter! :) **

mamusia = mom

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Gavin just stared at Cullen in utter shock. Your mate? Are you certain?

A little bit frustrated, Cullen barked back, Of course I am certain!

Just standing there, I looked from side to side, trying to figure out where my mate could have possibly gone. I can't believe I have found my mate after all this time. I honestly thought this would never happen. Then the sudden thought occurred—no emotions—is what I was taught from the beginning. Growling, at just the thought that a mere woman would be able to tame the beast inside of me. A mere woman that could probably dig her claws into me. Never! An inner battle was just beginning between myself and my wolf. My wolf felt like busting out and trying to hunt down our mate so that we can be bonded together. Tied down to a woman...just one woman? The thought sounded too absurd. I can admit easily, that I have lain with numerous of women. I have a need that has to be fulfilled and none of the bitches in my clan have ever complained about it.

Soul mate. The one and only person made just for me...to complete me.

"Perhaps your mate works here Cullen? This whole area is empty. You never know, Donald may be able to assist you. He is the doctor here...so he will know who is scheduled today," Gavin quietly said sensing how on edge his Alpha is at the moment, he tried to keep his voice calm, not wanting to anger the wolf. Gavin knew from the beginning how Cullen was raised. Shaking his head, he did feel sorry for Cullen. To be raised by a cold father like that. Perhaps finding his mate can actually be the key to the lock that is around his heart. To bring life and laughter back to his Alpha. Above all else, love back into his life—love that he never had growing up.

Gavin started to remember bits and pieces of Cullen's past. He was just slightly older than Cullen by only 3 years, so he was able to remember a bit more of when the previous Alpha died. Thinking back many years ago...

There was a terrible war that was going on between packs over territory. There was no possible way that the enemy got through the castle's wall. Iain was a mighty Alpha. He was very tough and hard on all his warriors, but that was the reason why our pack grew so strong. Now on his dying bed, he was leaving his legacy. His legacy was hate. The Alpha was consumed by hatred for his enemy. He needed to see his son burn with the fever for revenge, and until he was certain the boy understood the importance of righting the terrible wrong done this dark day, he would continue to fight death.

"Avenge me, Cullen MacAlister. Take my hatred into your heart, protect it, nurture it, and when you've grown older and stronger, use my sword to slay my enemies. I cannot die in peace until you've given me your word you'll avenge this evil deed done to me and mine. Promise me, boy."

"Yes father," Cullen fervently vowed. "I will avenge you."

"Do you burn with the fever for revenge?"

"I do."

Iain nodded with contentment. He was finally at peace, and if he lived long enough to give his son directions for his future, that was all well and good; but if the next breath he drew were to be his last, that would be acceptable to him too, because he knew his sone would find a way to do what he must. Laying there with a broken leg and a fair-sized hole near his belly, he knew how foolish it was to wish for impossible things.

"Who was it father?"

"They came down from the north and from too far away to want our land. Don't act in haste," he cautioned. "Neither the Kaerns nor the MacNares are cunning enough to have planned this boldness. They must have acted under directions from another. I don't know who the traitor is, but you'll find out. 'Tis my feeling the enemy hails from within." Nodding his head, Iain continued, "There's a traitor all right, and it will be your duty to ferret him out. He's one of us, Cullen, of that I'm certain. God willing, he's singing the death rattle even now on my own battlefield. You'll bide your time until you have all the names. Then wreak vengeance upon all of those still living. Consider killing their sons as well, boy."

He was ready to let death have him, for he had seen the fire burning bright in Cullen's eyes, and he knew he would be avenged. Iain MacAlister died a few minutes later. He died as he lived, with honor, dignity, and on his own stubborn terms.

Being brought back to the conversation at hand, Gavin had to quickly stop remembering the past.

"Call the compound. I want a few men sent here immediately." Cullen stated fiercely as he walked away.

Seeing his Alpha walk away, he couldn't help but shake his head sadly. Responsibilities forced him to grow up too soon. First his older brother died mysteriously, and then his father during the battle. Cullen was pretty much the forgotten child. His parents seemed only to have enough love for the heir apparent. Cullen tried to do everything to gain their attention and love when he was a little boy. His father only acknowledged him finally on his death bed. But after years of being rejected and denied of love, Cullen began to close his heart to everyone.

Cullen didn't wait for a response from Gavin. Without further details explained to Gavin, I turned right away towards the Critical Care Unit. Now finding Donald was my first priority. "Then you can go and find out if there is an update with Alec," telling Gavin that over my shoulder as I headed down the hallway. Grabbing my cell out of my front pocket, I called up Donald right away, waiting for him to answer the phone.

"Yes Alpha. What can I do for you this morning?" asked Donald—too cheerful for being this early in the morning.

"Give me your location right now," demanded Cullen. To tired for any pleasantries.

"I am actually heading over to Alec at this very moment. Is something wrong Alpha?" asked Donald carefully, sensing his irritation clearly. He already could hear the tightness in his Alpha's voice. Something has to be up. It couldn't be just about Alec getting shot.

I didn't even bother answering Donald back as I ended the call. My first initial plans when I arrived at the hospital escaped me the very moment I caught her scent. I was striding over to CCU with a more important purpose at hand. Millions of thoughts and emotions running through my head, but just one thought stood out above all.

My mate...

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Finally I just finished the rest of my floors. As always L&D nurses were a pain in the ass. You would think that they would be grateful that, because of me, they never ran out of supplies and they never had to waste their time to do this task themselves. But of course, they just continue being lazy as hell and their noses up in the air. This is the same routine with them over and over every morning. First I would walk in to the area, and see the patient carts aren't pulled out, like they should be. It is the nurse's job to pull them out—as it is against policy that I enter the patient rooms. Since the carts aren't pulled out, I ask the head nurse to please take them out. Then she comes up with some excuse like 'ohh...I'm sorry. We are just so busy'...even though I look around and see every nurse sitting down socializing with one another. Yea...busy my ass. Oh, but the best excuse ever I think I heard—and repeatedly hear—'Ohhh, you work today? I didn't know that you fill up the carts today'. Ummm...my schedule has been the same for the past 4 months! You would think if your going to lie to me, at least try coming up with a good excuse.

But that's then, and now I get to relax a bit. Okay, I lied. Perhaps it's not just a bit, more like an hour. I'm so glad, that NICU and L&D weren't so busy today. Now, I have the chance to read my book. I love Julie Garwood. She is one of my favorite authors out of a handful. And I love any books that are historical romance. I have a special little couch I lay on that is tucked away in the nook of the room. If people were to come into the room, they wouldn't see me right away. Now, I just get to recline back slightly, and pick up my feet so that I can continue reading my book.

After some time...

I gather up my things, and head back downstairs so that I can pick the items that my floors will need. Normally, after I finish filling the patient carts, I take inventory of the 'Mother Cart'.

"It's about time you finish up," states Luis.

I just roll my eyes. "I still have a whole hour left to pick my items and bring them back to the floors. I'm not in a hurry. Not everyone is as slow as you, where you need so much time to accomplish one thing," I stated while smirking at him.

Laughing now, Luis says, "You better watch it little girl. Don't make me take out the knife."

Now I laugh, "Oh, you mean that butter knife that you consider a pocket knife?" It was always our joke that we continue to tease about. His so called pocket knife is probably so dull that it couldn't even cut anything. "But, I would love to use the nail filer that's there. At least that's the one thing that actually does its job".

I just hear Emmanuel and Mitch laughing in the background. I can hear one of them say 'they are at it again'. In the next half hour, I finish putting all my items I need in bins so that I can carry it to my floors. Here I go again going back up to my floors.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

"What do you mean you don't know!?!" Cullen asked angrily. Cullen continues, "You're the damn doctor on this floor. How the fuck do you not know?"

"Please Cullen, just calm down. What I am trying to explain to you, is that it could have been any one of my nurses that walked through, or it could have been someone from maintenance or S&D."

Walking back and forth in the room where Alec is in, I couldn't help but feel like hitting someone. How can he not know? I know I am being unreasonable, but I don't give a damn. I want to find my mate!

"I guess your shit out of luck Cullen", Alec jokingly says, continuing, "I guess poor Alpha has to actually work in finding his mate. Poor baby."

I didn't even realize what I was doing, until I felt my hand gripping Alec's throat. Feeling the rage building up inside from my wolf for being kept apart from my mate. Donald jumped right away into action, knowing he had to calm down the situation.

"Cullen, stop right now! Let go of him. He was just shot. Cullen, please try to calm down. Think of your mate. What if she were to walk in here and see you strangling a patient?"

Now that did it. I felt my wolf backing down immediately, howling in my mind in pain, as I let go of Alec. He didn't want to scare our mate. That's the very last thing he wanted. But then again, I couldn't help but think—fear is always good. I can hear my wolf growling angrily at my thoughts. What am I to do? My wolf wants to love and protect our mate. And here I want to find my mate but to keep a distance between us so that I couldn't possibly fall in love with her. Love is a weakness...it's completely useless.

"You know Cullen, I have been thinking about the possibilities and trying to narrow down the choices. If it was just a quarter after 5 in the morning and the whole area was empty but that one area...PPPU, it would either have to be someone delivering fresh linens or the material handler that comes up and fills up the patient carts." Donald tried to explain, thinking very hard about it all.

"The material wh...?"

"How do I narrow down the employee names? There must be a whole list of material handlers that work in this hospital!" Cullen stated, interrupting Gavin.

Gavin nodded, "Cullen is right Donald. We may have narrowed it down significantly, but the list is still pretty long."

Donald couldn't help but smirk now. "Your right about that, but I know two things that are very important and would narrow the list to just two names."

"What is it?!" Both Gavin and Cullen asked at the same time.

"First things first," Donald poked his head out of the room, looking down the hallway. "Manjula, can you please come here a minute?" Donald stepped back. Cullen saw a petite young Indian woman come to the door. "Manjula, can you please get some extra linens' for this room? Yes, thank you." As Manjula left, Donald turned toward Cullen. "I take it she wasn't your mate."

"Of course she wasn't my mate you fool. You are wasting my time," Cullen yelled out. Not surprised if the entire hospital didn't just hear me at the moment. I can't believe how irritated I am being. I am seriously at the edge of my patience—I need to get a grip.

"Oh contraire my Alpha."

"Out with it Donald! Cant you see how on edge your putting Cullen?" stated Gavin. "And I don't know about you, but I'd rather be finding me some ladies instead of healing from my wounds." A dreamy look now spreading across Gavin's face, imagining all of the women he'll try to find tonight. Donald and Cullen just turned to stare at Gavin. Both of them shaking their head, thinking he must be bi-polar.

"Let me try to explain to the both of you" stated Donald calmly, "You see, there is just one person that delivers linens, and there is just one material handler that fills up the patient carts in PPPU." Donald then continued, "and you just saw Manjula, who brings up the linens, so that just leads to one other person...Angel." Waiting for that information to sink into his Alpha's head.

"Angel..." Saying the name out loud...it felt just right saying the name, Cullen thought. I can feel my wolf beginning to get all happy again at this new revelation. At last...

"You know, she does come up at the end of her shift to put her items aw..."

Cullen didn't give Donald the chance to finish that sentence, as he left the room as fast as he possibly could. Trying to get to PPPU as fast as he possibly can, without being so noticeable by others in the hallway or knocking someone down. That would be a sight to see by his clam, the fierce looking Alpha acting like a child on Christmas morning!

On a mission now...

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Phew, almost done. Just need to put the last of the 'IV start kits' away in its place, and then I will be officially done. I can't wait! As happy as I was about that fact, I couldn't help but feel down again. My shoulder slumping forward...I still have to be in school for practically the whole day. Since my shift ends at 9am, my first class begins at 10am and I'm in school till 9pm. Why on earth did I schedule all my classes to be on Mondays and Wednesdays? DUH! So that I can have Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday off from school. This means a longer weekend for me. But this schedule is really draining me...in fact, I think it's killing me!

I just have to look at the bright side. Once I graduate, I will be making over 95K easily within my first year as a Pharmacist. I will be able to pay off my loans right away within a year, and even take over paying the mortgage for my mom. Since my parents' divorce back in 2000, my mom struggled and just barely made ends meat to support my sister, brother and myself. And I always told her, 'someday, when I graduate, I will start paying the mortgage for you mamusia so that you can finally take it easy and enjoy yourself'. That was and still is the goal of mine. After all the things she had been through before and after the divorce; all the sacrifices she made...it was about time I showed her how very thankful I am to her.

I couldn't help but smile at the thought as I started to head towards the elevators. It will all be worth it in the end. All the sudden I felt someone staring at me. At that moment, I looked up, as the doors were closing, and a few thoughts ran through my mind. First, who the hell was that hunk? He was gorgeous as hell!! Second thought, why did he look so shocked and surprised to see me? I looked down at myself, thinking I grew a third boob or something, but nope, nothing. And finally, His eyes. His eyes were so hauntingly beautiful—it seemed as if they could pierce right through me. And above all, why did it seem that he wanted to devour me? I couldn't help but shudder first in excitement, but then in fear. There was something dangerous...wild...in those eyes. I don't like to show fear; it's a sign of weakness, so I just perked my eye brow up at him, in a challenging way.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Angel...

I couldn't believe it, I found her at last. I didn't get the greatest look of her, but from what I did see, I saw that she was about 5'5, brown hair that was cut short, it was hard to tell much from the scrubs she was wearing, but I could tell she had curves. She's all woman and I couldn't stop my eyes roaming up and down her body and back up to her face—imagining her out of those scrubs and naked on our bed. And then there were her eyes. At first, she was staring down at the ground, smiling to herself about something—probably an inside joke or something—but then she looked up as the doors were closing, and oh my god. They were the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen, that it actually took my breath away. Taking a few breaths to calm

Soon...very soon my angel, I will have you. And you will be MINE...

down and I whipped out my phone again.

I didn't give Donald a chance to speak, "I want all the information brought up on Angel and her schedule. And I want it all within the hour," ending the call. After 286 years, I finally found my mate, and actually see her, standing right in front of me. I couldn't help but grin slightly at the challenge she shown in her eyes. It seems that my fact does in fact have a feisty side to her.

Soon...very soon my angel, I will have you. And you will be MINE...

Hopefully Helpful

I agree it is a promising story and as a fellow attempted writer, I appreciate your tale. it did detract slightly that I recognized the back story of Cullen from one of my all-time favorite novels. Though I can't blame you entirely Julie Garwood is awesome. Editors are wonderful creatures who can be your cheering section when you need it and help make your story its best. Keep up the good work

Editing

Girl, you need someone to proofread and edit your writing! While the storyline is intriguing thus far (though I've read many stories that have the same theme), you mix past and present tense...at one point, you wrote 'I finally get to meat my mate'....excuse me? Meat?? Isn't that something you eat? Unless you were making an unintended pun, you need to fix up your use of grammar.

Yeeeeaaahhh....

Ok I'm not the only one... You definitely took some dialogue and kinda part of the background on Cullen from the wedding by Julie garwood. Not that I blame you. She's awesome but adding her in the story? You just made it waaaaay obvious ya know? Love the story though :)
