I'm a Ph.D. from academia who aspires to become a full time writer within a year. I find erotica to be an interesting artistic challenge. For me, the hardest part of writing has been to describe sex. Frankly, any fool can write a love story--moon and June and walking an inch off the ground and breathless kisses, etc., etc, ad naseum. But to really tell the truth about sex, in particular, to tell the truth about sex as an altered state of consciousness, un-safe sex, sex that obliterates the self, sex that measures our anger and lust for power as much as our love, sex where the greatest giving may be the greatest taking--that requires a philosopher as much as an artist.
