Some very nice imagery and the small splattering of comedy here and there really added to the tale. One thing I would say is try to avoid the clichés you used near the beginning of part one – By this I mean the “nobody is going to die” parts, they did nothing for the tale, detracting from your obvious talent as a writer. The Combat scene did seem a little unfocused and I found it hard to follow in places, otherwise a good effort. I wouldn’t mind reading more of the adventures of the Duo, maybe even having Harl joining them on their adventures? You have certainly set yourself up for a series of tales, your protagonists have been established and are likeable, and I look forward to reading more of your work.
