I know there are aspects to this tale you do not like and I appreciate your continuing readership. You spotted, early on, the corrupting influence of Trotter. It is possible that Mary never 'loved' him, yet she may very well, in her own way, love him quite a lot.

Men and women are, and have been, sexual animals since the beginning of time. These little snippets are illustrative of that aspect. Ch. 10 will end this particular historical segment. MP2 :-)
