This reconciliation line I have never read before and that is what made this different enough to continue. You could write an addendum with different endings and post as a chapter 2 or epilogue? However, IMHO don't think they will make it long term. Particularly after the kids leave home.

I didn't have as much trouble with this story as others did. I thought it was a different and original approach to a tired formula.

There are some guys that are cool with sharing their wives. I don't understand it and couldn't do it. Back in the 90s I used to get high(mostly weed and beer) with a friend and his wife on the weekends and we would hang out or go places together. It wasn't badly written. You did confuse the names at least once. No big deal. I noted it and moved on. I think a bit of your dialogue was a bit clunky, but reading it out loud should fix that particular problem.

You are going to get crap from some because it was in a woman's voice. For some reason, those tales do worse in the scores, particularly since she did not immediately throw her lover under a bus (I know you fell this is realistic and you are correct. That isn't what the majority of your reading demographic here wants) Honestly, I do not read JPBs women stories either.

Here is MY problem with the story: the inconsistency. You have this wife supposedly ASK her husband clearly and plainly if she could fuck Don. Hubby was clear on this point. Wife doesn't remember this CRITICALLY important conversation.

That's strike one. I don't believe that circumstance.

Now, the husband has known about her fucking around for MONTHS. Hell, he gave PERMISSION. (There is another star gone missing. Lots of readers will hate that. I'm not particularly rosy either, but not enough to ding it) And for MONTHS, Hubby's wedding tackle worked just fine! He knew and he still fucked her.

Now, after their conversation, suddenly he can't get it up...because he's a willing cuckold. Sorry, but he was ALWAYS a willing cuckold. This was certainly not a waste of my time, but a few elements struck me as inconsistent and it took me out of the story with a 'what?'. That is not where you want the reader.

All the excuses to justify cheating. An imaginary husband who just goes with the flow without any discussion. The challenge of letting hubby cheat for his own good. And finally that little nagging feeling that maybe this was not a good idea because HE got to take care of himself. Fantasy is priceless because you do not have any real world concequences.

But I despised your characters, but to be fair, I don't know how this story could be told without despicable characters.

I liked the interplay and the take as the woman writing it. She thought the same stupid stuff that all cheaters think but no one forced her to change except the circumstances. Then she got a lot smarter. She had to suffer through the knowledge that her husband slept with someone else. He didn't threaten or talk about it. He just did it. She had to face the fact that her cheating broke her marriage and that there was nothing she could do to fix it except endure the same humiliation, anger, and frustration her husband felt. Title for tat.

these stories get before someone steps in and chases these idiots, this story was pure crap, people who have affairs don't for one minute care about anybody but themselves and idiots that stay together for their kids are ruining their's and their kids life. Now i could say this is just a story then i read comments and see what a bunch of no minds most are.

Not badly written. But nothing great. The idea that a divorce would help his mental state wasn't a surprising idea. The fact that he would want to live with her as before WAS a surprising idea. I think where this fell down was that he just didn't seem to show much emotion. Not when he discovered her affair. Not when they talked about her affair. Not when he wanted a divorce (She didn't really seem all that upset about the divorce either). Not when he had erectile dysfunction. He just seemed to plod along. And he certainly didn't seem the type to have an affair of his own. Maybe another chapter to explain his new found bedroom skills? And how their relationship plays out. Do the kids know they aren't married? This left me with a lot of questions.

This is a whole different approach to infidelity and its consequences. There is no real proof that Josh did screw another woman, just that Carol make that apparent connection. Her conclusion was based on what she did and its consequences. This is a much deeper story than a number of "anonymous" digested. Although not a great story in itself, there was a very deep moral to the story.

The divorce so he wouldn't be a cuckold anymore and therefore regain his potency is absurd and the notion that fucking around would make him potent is just as bad. The sad truth is she killed the marriage when she asked permission. What's left is an imaginary world that is unsustainable.

Nothing about the story seemed real to me (yes I know it's fiction and perhaps fantasy). The characters are flat and caricatures rather than real people. Jason is totally without dimension or affect and Carol has no conscience or concern for anyone other than herself. The storyline is very linear and marches from one non-event to the next with no real conflict and certainly no conflict resolution. No one learned anything, the status quo stayed intact.

I didn't vote, because I don't but I would be hard pressed to vote if I allowed myself to do so. I simply didn't and don't care about Carol or Josh who remind me of tepid dishwater.

I have to admit that I like 'knowing' the related events of a story, but that's just me. Even though you infer to the husband's having an affair of his own...we don't get to know for sure...drats. But, a well written story and, excellent insight into the 'extra benefits' of extra marital activities. You took us readers for a ride through each insecurity, and fear of the possible outcomes...of both the main characters (wife and husband). Thank you. Very good (and - 5 stars from me).

It's difficult to have much confidence in the future of the marriage. 'How are you going to keep them down on the farm after they've seen Paree?'

but my sense of humor is a bit odd.

First off, I don't think the husband actually gave permission for his wife to see Don... I think he was running a game he came up with at that moment on her. If so - then everything makes much more sense. He gets ED after she tells him - he was functional up to that point. The divorce was his game as well - he wants it for the obvious reasons. And this way he gains/maintains control.

Did he have an affair/interlude? Probably. Maybe. She is not a reliable narrator - she is clearly spinning things for her own perceived benefit.

The likelihood that the author is female puts another interesting spin on the piece - the female lead is inconsistent and self-involved... I've met people like that (some of them women) and frankly tend to avoid them. What was the author trying to get to with this one? The Englishisms also suggest that I may not have the cultural context to be sure.

Anyway, certainly one of the best stories out today... I'll probably not vote due to my cultural questions... so, you Brits in the audience... what do you make of it?

... This story had the makings of an all-time great but fell flat as a three day opened Coke with that pitiful ending. Not only did that whore of a wife get a new and improved hubby but, also, one who is turned on by her infidelities. The divorce idea had me thinking the story was going in a completely different direction. As it turned out, I'm not really sure what the point of the divorce or any other action by Josh had to do with the actual story. Confusing at best and downright infuriating at worst.

What a pity the the biggest harm for the Loving Wives hub was not divided into two hubs that very few authors write long time panorama stories. Now we can not decide the husband will leave his exwife or not when the kids leave the house. Yes the Reconciliation, BTB and other Consequence stories have some time panorama, but too many stories ended with lonely sad husbands with the divorce decree at the mailbox. A marriage strife category/hub could encourage more and more authors to write long time panorama after the main events, so we had known he left her after the kids became 18 years old or not.

First, depression actually is one of the possible causes of premature ejaculation, but possibly Josh is one of those guys who naturally orgasms quickly unless he distracts himself from thinking about his own release and puts an effort into his partner's. Thinking about Carol with her lover may have just made him want to get his and get out of her ASAP.

And yeah, the marriage is probably on life support. He'll keep on getting "outside help" with extending his performance and carry on at home in a civil manner until the kids are old enough to move out, then leave. That gives him years to organize his own personal finances so Carol won't be entitled to half of everything he acquires in the years after their divorce.

I liked the karmic ending. But I found it a bit aloof or or flat or emotionless. Maybe it was just the style. Initially it struck me as a bit weird that he was fine with her cuckolding him before they talked about it and then got ED after they talked about it. I wondered if he was just pretending to have ED as part of a revenge plot. But the brain is a strange thing. Maybe as long as they didn't talk about it he could sublimate it somehow. I have just one minor problem. While Josh already knew about it and the affair was still going on, he had no problem. Only after she has ended it, his ED started?

But that´s a small thing and doesn´t spoil a good story.

So little communication. She cheats. He magically knows about it. He becomes impotent. He wants a divorce. But he wants to still live with the bitch like they're husband and wife? Why? It makes no sense. The bullshit about not seeing a Doctor or a shrink because he doesn't think it will help was just plain arrogance on his part. The Court divorce was also crazy. No Judge signs off on something like that. The Judge awards alimony, child support, rights to the house and child visitation. No a divorce and the admonition to go home. And at the end she assumes he fucked some other woman on his trip. But she's only guessing right? Way too many holes in this mess. And there was hardly an ounce of emotion anywhere in the story. About as much fun to read as watching paint dry.

a many of marriages are wrapped up within as this one... glossed over a bit... but hit home in a lot of cases. I would like to know the percentage of men with the strong feeling of his spouse/companion having a relationship with other men...yet never admit the feeling even to themself.

I feel somethings were left out but I liked the ending.

Unless you want to give up personal info to a potential phishing scam or become an unwitting part of some potential psych study or potential blackmail scheme.

It is the total betrayal of your spouse on the most basic level. There is no "getting past" it. There can be forgiveness, but no reconciliation. PS, it was also good because the wife character was neither unremorseful nor non-contemplative in regards to her unfaithfulness. And she was woefully unfaithful. PPS The guy she was cheating with was not nice or good at all, if he knew she was married.

Even for a fictional story. No Judge is going to grant a divorce based on that story. She'd want to see the report from Child Protective services that approved their both living in the house as an unmarried couple. The kids are going to be embarrassed. Not good.

Inciteful characterizations of both. They seemed real in extraordinary circumstances.

She cuckolds him with an affair for years then decides that she should stop to prevent long term problems with her marriage. But she first feels her husband out to see if he might enjoy knowing that he was being cuckold! Being a good husband he attempts to support her cuckolding of him since that is what his wife real wants to do. Well guess what her cuckolding causes him to develop erectile dysfunction. So the wife finally realizes what a selfish bitch that she has become. Her selfish actions caused their divorce! So her ex-husband leaves home for a short time and when he returns he is now able to get it up so they can have sex. But now the wife is upset because she thinks that another woman had a sexual encounter with her husband which gave him back his balls and she is jealous of his affair! What a selfish bitch!

they're not married! He apparently found a woman to restore his confidence. If he has further opportunities with this woman he will. And if other women tempt him there is nothing to hold him back. The set-up of the midnight permission was a little thin easily susceptible to suspension of disbelief. Your characters seemed delightfully perceptive and insightful. This story certainly invites further reading of your stories.

The wife who vowed to forsake all others for him betrayed him. If he goes the way of the typical LW husband and falls in love with another woman, is he capable of trusting her the way he trusted his first wife? This way, he has his divorce, as amicable a split as one could hope to have, without having to go nuclear and spend a fortune on legal fees and fight over property and child custody, and if it turns out that Carol hasn't learned her lesson and cheats again, if he finally does find someone else, or if he's just biding his time until the kids get older and leave home, he can just take his share of the ex-marital assets and walk away. Accepting the role of the wounded cuckold for a short time was an investment in his future.

I would have thought that before the story ended, that what had happened to help him would have been divulged to her, and the feelings that she had about it brought forth. Good story, but lacking in final conclusions.
