great story

needs a lot of grarmmatical cleanup, but that doesn't take away from its wonderfulnes

Chatty, but Not Much More

The magic of Robert Parker's writinng was his dialog. Spenser talking with Hawk and Jesse Stone chatting with various characters were the high point of Parker's stories and he could get away with somewhat trivial plots because of that. Grigor cannot rely on his dialog although he does try. So the combination of inadequate dialog quality, shallow characters and superficial plot makes this story just about worthless. I gave it a 3* for effort, but it probably wasn't worth that much.
