You shouldn't use words you don't know the meaning of. Some punctuation was so confusing as to cause the reader to reread the sentence twice and eventually conclude that the punctuation should be ignored.

I'm a lot older than Barbara but I had a very similar experience. One night my husband had to leave early and after a party a younger man offered to take me home. One thing led to another and I ended up enjoying some of the same things as in the story.
