Ah, I'm 57 as well, so this is right up my dream alley. Never been to a comic con and I don't write SciFi though... Very fun and uplifting story!

I think I know who you really mean. I mean I really know him, he's an old friend of mine. And you're right, he rarely backs down.

Adds a good note of realism to the story - but where in the Convention Center is there a photo booth? (I've been going to SD Comic Con since 1975! My wife's on the committee these days.)

Really enjoyable story, obviously this is in the mature section, but it would have helped the storyline to have Jax a few years older and Rick slightly younger, just enough to prevent the Ick factor from kicking in, as it is he’s hitting the gym hard prior to the Con, which implies he’s let himself go somewhat, and is desperately trying to get back into shape to try and look good for pics etc with fans. His publicist and the publishers marketeers would also have recommended taking off the beard, if you’re selling to a younger crowd, it would make him look younger and they’d identify with him more easily.

All that said, if the Author is writing this as a fantasy starring himself I guess anything goes.
