It's not that she strips, it's that she keeps secrets from someone she claims to "love."

I could see not telling him she HAD BEEN a stripper some time in the past. But this was current events. THAT would have been the deal-breaker for me. If she kept that a secret from me, what else would she keep from me ?

A more honest, and endearing approach:

"So, you work at the country club ?"

"Yeah, but it doesn't get the bills paid. So I have another job, one I'm not exactly proud of, but I need to finish my bachelor's."

And I felt that it was very believable. I'm sure she struggled with not telling Henry she was a stripper but she was a stripper out if necessity. If hadn't found out I believe she would have eventually told him.

How could he ever trust any woman again let alone propose? Is she quitting or is he ok with his fiancé stripping? There is always another way. If you parents have money, you get no financial aid. With parents like hers, there is aid and grants galore. Her other job should be all she needs as the grants would cover a dorm room and meal plan. She would also qualify for Medicaid. I think she likes it too much. The money could kill her financial aid although I would guess it is unreported.

The title and the beginning of the story says it all. Alex does not have confidence in herself, she is forced to work in two places and one of her works is not of the approval of the society in general. In addition, she has problems with her subjects, so she finally accepts Henry's help. While Tristan cheated on him throughout his relationship (and with included sex with Joe), Alex did not cheat on Henry at any time. If it is true that she concealed from him that she is a stripper, but nothing more, there was no deception or sex with others.

If anything can be blamed on Alex, it has been his lack of confidence, but it must be acknowledged that, after Tristan's story, Alex was afraid that Henry would be hurt again.

In addition, she had the courage to tell him why she worked as a stripper, she was struggling her life to get an education and another job, and if to get it had to undress, she would.

And as the Holy Bible says, the one who is free from guilt, throw the first stone.

Given we must accept everything the writer has written as truth since it's his world, I think it's a great story and good for them. Wouldn't be my choice for girl most likely to make a faithful wife but I wish them well.

Comments I read from others asked how Henry could trust Alex. The question I would ask is how can Alex trust Henry?

Henry supposedly loved Tristan, lived with her and more than likely would eventually marry her, yet Tristan became aware that Henry had feelings for Alex. Henry went so far as to arrange to sit next to Alex at their shared class and to get Alex to agree to be tutored by him at his apartment (which he had never done before). How could Alex trust that Henry wouldn't find someone he 'liked' better than her?

As the great philosopher Chris Rock once said, 'a man is as faithful as his options', and Henry will always have options given his outgoing nature and desire to help people. Granted that Alex was dishonest by omission regarding her stripping job (which I can understand), but Henry was dishonest to Tristan and to Alex in not sharing his growing feelings toward Alex.

He's a stronger (or dumbest) man than me. I would never date a girl who takes her clothes and gets excited about men watching her. There's a future potencial problem there. Is she going to take her clothes for her friends in the future? Next time she can't get what she wants is she letting guys touch her body? She is a cheating bomb ready to explote.

Nice fantasy, but in reality he is buying a ticket to broken heart and a divorce.

This is one of those "hooker with a heart of gold" stories. Forget who is going to give up on who in the future. It's a romance fairy tale.

Here is the problem with this woman and this story, not from a writing point of view, but from an ethical point of view and a 'future relationship' point of view.

She has aspects of being a sociopath. At least as she is described, but not as she is probably in the author's mind.

I get that she has had to break moral codes to get through life and get where she is. But that is not a point of PRIDE! It should be a point of, at least regret if not shame. She took advantage of people. Because one thing that strippers do is lead on their clients to get as much cash as possible. It isn't exactly fraud...but it's certainly misleading.

So how does she have any kind of strong moral code when her entire upbringing has been 'MY ends justify almost any means'? I can believe the story and I understand where she 'lives' intellectually but at some point, The Big Boy Scout is going to have some moral conundrum and his little sociopath wife is going to do something 'pragmatic' which is a denial of who he is...just because he likes the freckles on her tits.

So I see either a shattering of his self, who IS a good person, or a bitter divorce over ethics. Just because he is linking up with a not so good person.

I like who he is and am not sure she is in any way worth her dragging him down.

If you are able to see the moral equivalence between stripping and robbery (to say nothing of multiple homicide) while reading stories on a porn site, then you have a few symptoms of sociopathy as well. If you're just jerking Bigguy33's chain, that is beneath you.

This is called using the same argument and applying it to other circumstances which shows that this argument of 'pride in being morally unethical' is nonsense.

It is not that I see no difference between stripping and crime. It is that the argument and the demands by the woman are nonsense. If she did something wrong, like selling handjobs, than that is not a point of pride.

He can be PROUD she survived. He can be proud she is flexible and tough. These are good traits. That she is morally indifferent to her actions are not, to me, a point of pride. This ruined the story somewhat for me.

Trust is a VERY BIG issue in any relationship, especially a marriage. If a couple starts out without trust, then there really is NO HOPE AT ALL that the marriage will grow. The very foundation of said marriage is on shaky ground and probably not last long at all.

The imagined moral conflict makes it even better. But I admit that a self-made woman is worth knowing as long as she doesn't get carried away with vanity, I did feel that they should have discussed the situation a bit before he made the proposal. Basically I I would love to have another wife who respected us and loved me again. It would not make much difference what she had done before.

I have reflected on that reaction thinking perhaps some of those guys recognized her.

I got impression the club she worked at was well known establishment in a college town. Certainly numerous students made their way there. She had stripped for years four nights a week. There are strippers and then there are strippers. I've known both kinds and sometimes it's hard to tell. Are there drug free faithful wives, girlfriends and students up there on the stage? Sure. Are the percentages as high as in the general population? No. Were you in the drug free faithful group and you and I were in love, I'd have no issue with this being in your past. If I were dead and gone and you had to do it for our kid, I'd be damn proud of you.

Worst case she could have studied part time while working full time and not had to take off her clothes for money, as well as doing stuff like having room-mates to keep costs down.

Not to mention forms of student help such as student loans, or the possibility of scholarships. Full ones are difficult to get, but partial ones that give a few thousand bucks or something are a lot easier and could be enough to balance things out.

The worst kind of Stripper, addiction-wise, is number 1. That, of course, is the reason the woman in the story was stripping. This was a good story and I gave if five stars. College is very expensive and Alex did not have any financial support from her parents. There was very little else she could have done to make the money she needed for college. Henry did the right thing, asking her to marry him and taking her away from the strip club. The story ends there but I think that her stripping days were over. She will only strip for Henry now. Good story. I really enjoyed it. But this story is unrealistic. The only way a stripper makes good money is by going into the private dance area with her patrons. There she will be expected to touch her patron’s cocks and rub her pussy on their cocks, possible she will give him a blowjob or actually fuck him in the private dance area, depending on the rules of the club. She will also be expected to go home with the particularly rich patrons and fuck him elsewhere. If she is a stripper and does not do any of these things, she would not be a stripper for very long. Her slot would be given to a girl who realizes what she has to do to make money and to stay employed at the strip club. This sanitazed version of the job of a stripper is not an accurate depiction of the job nor its requirements.
