this is the begining of either a good disaster movie or an alien take over. either way i am so ready for the ride!!!!...trs
If this is a continuation or a follow up story you need make sure timelines, kids gender, and details match.....js
Which was a short story about Rachel finding and mating Marcus ten years earlier. From the story, we knew she was a Beta, had a brother, Marcus had a sister and that was about it.
I am glad to see a new story from you as you are one of the best writers in this catagory and site. Waiting with patient for next installment (is it here yet!!!!!)
There are way to many characters being thrown at you from the get go. I don't mind going back and forward in timelines but it should not be repetitive.
I'll admit, when I first read that description, I thought, "OK, a werewolf pack is going to be destroyed." Then, as I got further into the story, I realized that this is a global (or at least a statewide if not a national event). I felt a little disoriented, because at first, I thought this would be a story about Marcus and Rachel's family. Then the girl scout troop was introduced - I thought they were werewolves, but they're human - and the story kept expanding. Am looking forward to seeing how everyone deals with this calamity, and how they survive. Because the severity of the twins' sunburns tells me that this is a catastrophic event. And how can all the victims be treated without any electronic instruments? Very interesting premise that I'm sure will be a most rewarding story.

Gamma ray burst from a nearby star going nova?
Scary stuff, will be interesting to see how this pans out.
A Solar eruption (a BIG Solar flare) aimed near Earth could cause an event like this. No warning. Unlikely, but possible. Great "were"story woven around the concept.
And sexy bonus material!
Nothing should have worked the night before.... the Northern Lights are only seen in the winter. ;-)
Mysterious lights in the sky -> extinction level event - see Day Of The Triffids by John Wyndham, mid 1950s UK sci-fi, well worth a read.
good start, reading on
Reminds me of the novel "Inferno" by Fred Hoyle.
First I thought it was just UV, but at the end it seems more like radiation poisoning from gamma rays.
