I like stories that engage the reader and require him to exercise his own imagination about how the cheaters will react when they realise they have been played. There is plenty in the story to entertain.
I hope Ohio goes back and finished the story. It was a good start, but I agree with others it needs more.
OMG A great story Wish I was rich and smart like that When I got divorced she got 1.3 million pounds (yes pounds ) and I got $20000 I just wanted her to look after the kids You could buy a house in Sydney then for $20'000 then OH well (jaybee186)
Bitch writer doesn't complete stories unless he's promoting a cuck husband taking the skank back
The wife's discovery- from landing & awaiting on her lover to seeing he's not there, whatever discussions & events took place afterwards, then her attempting to return home... as usual from this author, whom I'm not reading any more of his stories, just ignored. So 2 stars. A full story could've been 4. Bob
One more thing. How does a person have replica pieces made for a box full of jewelry in a few days? Believable copies? Not happening. Still three stars.
JPB
Good final twist, but not enough to raise this story to Four stars. The story is, instead a decent outline for a longer story. Just too sparse. Three stars.
JPB
I would love to see this as a five page story which includes what happens when they realise the are holding cheap copies of the jewellery. Perhaps he sends a text to his wife saying 'Please don't come back, you will be arrested at the airport'.
@ the Anon wanting the story finished: The author said in his intro that this story is an homage to HardDaysKnight. Enough said.
Good story, Ohio, thanks.
He's worth 12 million and spent 2 million on jewelry? He spent 1/6th of his wealth on jewelry? The MC sounds like a financial moron.
The "fake" jewelry is known as "paste," which does not mean these replica jewelry pieces are cheap. No, these replica pieces are often worn in public because wearing the real pieces often requires the owner to pay a one-time risk fee to the insurance company or drive up their policy cost the next year. So, for insurance purposes, they wear the fakes, and since the jewelry pieces are well-known, everyone but their rich friends and professional jewel thieves think they're real. In this case, for the "paste" to pass their owner's scrutiny, they would probably cost $40K to $50K.
I agree with much of what AngelRider wrote. I've read some of Ohio's other stories & enjoyed them. Not this one. Do yourself a favor & stay away from giving homage to Harddaysknight; he (she?) not that great on the complete story. Ohio generally does better. 2 stars Bob
If by homage you mean pompous, too cute for one's own good, lazy and otherwise arrogant than yah, it was.
The problem I have with HDK is he relies on cheap endings. He relies on the arc that ends at a cliff. Once in a while it's a very useful technique but used all the time it comes across as lazy. I have no idea why so many worship him. He is a fine writer with obvious talent but he uses the same gimmicks every time and they are by no means always successful.
So the teller was the neice. It's not a shock. It's not irony. It's not a huge surprise no one could see coming. HDK does the same shit. The problem with trying to be clever is it usually fails. Y'all think you are O'Henry but even he didn't live up to the mythos all of the time.
Like the last part: "Thanks Uncle Dave!" On a different note, who stoops to buy his trophy wife $2 million in jewelry. He is worth $12 million. Not a wise investment.
Good story, who gives a rats if it's near some other story, there is nothing new under the sun is the saying.Ohio gives his slant in his own words,if you can do better, let us all see the result.
HighBrow brands this story a rewrite of someone else’s story without providing details. Originality may be difficult to determine, but the posted date would help some.
Honestly, hate rewrites of other peoples stories, making me wonder if either one is original.
Quite a good story.A follow up on what happened later would have been nice.
To the last anon, if someone is very wealthy, the principle is more important than the amount. For normal people, it’s offensive when someone tries to steal any money, even if we could easily bear it. It’s why few people have a ton of sympathy for scammers.
"Fancy things like that make Lucinda happy, and I've got the money to keep her happy." So why's he bitching about a crummy $230,000?
Great story for being so short. I'd love more details and a real ending. What happened next?
Would love more to the story; seemed to be a bit rushed, but liked what you wrote. Would like to read what Lucinda did when she noticed no lover or money. Have to hand it to the hubby: she's in Rio stranded. Does she call him? Sell her body to get money? She was going to do her husband wrong, but he turned the tables. Sweet! -- Bob
Aww! She rats out the wife, but allows the hubby to access the sdb alone. Bad. Bad bank person!
Sweet!!!!
She is out of the country and, with no financial assets, no way back NOR the ability to file for divorce and clean him out.!
HE files for divorce, grounds of abandonment, and she gets nothing.
Here fate? Well, she is beautiful and the career of high end whore has an opening for her. LMAO!
My second reading of this little tale and it's still a funny 5 star one. I agree that the jewels are hers but with her in Rio with paste replicas and little money (boyfriend and money in jail) OH what is she to do?
@ChuckEPoo, maybe you were talking in generalities, and not about this specific story, but where do you see room for reconciliation here? She's been cheating on him for an extended period, squirreling away cash and is planning on fleeing the country with the lover, money and jewelry.
\
The odd thing is, we're not given the details of the pre-nup, but I would imagine that the jewelry as gifts would be hers to keep, and even a pre-nup would probably give her a sizable financial settlement. Of course, that's real life, LOL!
Liked this story was short & concise, but also missed reading what happened at the airport with Chris, moreso the reactions after the trip with fake jewels & no money.
"Thanks Uncle Dave" . . . great punchline. I think my favorite stories are one pagers. It takes disciplined writing. Thanks much.
I would have loved to know what happened when she landed with no money in a foreign country and no way to get home
I just noticed that D Warnock liked this story ten years ago. I remember Dickhead Warnock. He may have been the dumbest bastard to ever read or comment on Lit, and there have been some real idiots. It is alarming that he enjoyed the story. Let's hope Ohio writes some new shit, and soon!
C'monnnnn...why does it ALWAYS have to be 100 million dollar lawyers? I wonder how many LW authors are lawyers?
Loved the story.. used to do a similar version from the wife's point of view. And then from her toy boy. I think that would be quite funny.
Fun story.
Too bad that anon below me is just another worthless cuck. Such is his little dicked life.
Like so many the guy can't handle a stupid affair. Hell, like our 1SG said to the soldier worried about his wife when he was deployed, one guy can't wear it out and 2 can't get on at the same time. (Except in these off the charts literotica stories) You could have been a happy dude with a wife forever doing all she could to make you that happy for the rest of your life.
.
Yeah
Have I already read all of the good BTB tales on this site? Read this eight years ago and the revenge felt even better now. Anyone reading this, please send me the best BTB and revenge tales you can find. I will acknowledge you and send you a thank you.
Dnvrdave58 - Think you need to spend time with a medium. If you want the rest of the story, Paul Harvey passed away! Thank you ohio for a great read - even if its the second time through!
Of course I said yes. Not for the reason you may think but to have her arrested for the fraud she committed to remove the jewelry from the bank.
I paid for a ticket back home for her, cattle class of course, no more first class for her.
When she arrived back in the States she was quickly arrested and taken to the Police station and questioned.
She quickly blamed Chris for the whole scheme. Of course under questioning Chris had blamed her for setting him up to take the fall.
They were both found guilty of fraud and theft and were awaiting sentencing. Lucinda wanted to talk to me before she was sentenced. She apologised to me and told me she loved me. I told her I found that very hard to believe as she had given up a life of luxury for a lousy 2.23 million dollars.
Chris was sentenced to 10 years jail as was Lucinda.
Chris did not fair too well in prison. As they say money talks. I promised some very nasty people that I would look after their families if they made Chris's life a living hell in jail. I ended up employing a couple of the family members in my company and put some of the children through college and University. The very bad people were extremely pleased at the opportunity I gave their wives and children. Chris was Bubba's bitch for several years and 6 months before release he was severely beaten and left a cripple. Lucinda cried when she heard about Chris.
I left Lucinda alone while she was in prison as I felt she had suffered enough. She lost a life of luxury and would have to find work after she got out of prison. This would be hard with a felony record.
The bitch gets hers, but he should not forget his wife’s BFF part in all this. She too should pay a price.
sure hope she likes tequila and rum. With no pesos. TK U MLJ LV NV
"But first I needed to know more." - Why do they always need to know "more?"
I'd like to see a sequel where the lover is charged with bank robbery for the theft of two million in jewels from the deposit box, the only one who knows the real ones are in his possession are him and his niece
This way they both think the other set them up for the fall
One of the other comments was spot on. Extend the story. Show what happens to a "rich" woman in Rio with no money and with all her credit cards cancelled. Could be great fun.
in general a great start for a story, but lacking a full ending
Nicely done. No doubt she'll need to work flat her back for a while to rustle up funds.
Decent up to the ending which was a damp squib. What happened to Lucinda? and Chris wouldn't necessarily be jailed for a first time offence.
...but this is fantasy! Who says it has to be believable? That was fun. Good job.
I REALLY DON'T UNDERSTAND why he says about her wife that "she was pretty trusting for an adulterer!"She was an adulterer FOR HIM,BUT NOT FOR THAT MAN to whom OBVIOUSLY SHE COULD TRUST!
Also,I MUST CLEARLY DISAGREE with someone who said ONLY BULLSHIT in another comment, such as "really -- a bank would allow one spouse to access a safety deposit box after denying it to other spouse - breach of contract and bank regulations be damned? How could guy find fakes for jewelry so quickly and wife would not recognize?Wife would be much better off financially with divorce and so why go through this (may be pre-nup,but nothing about that)"!THAT'S ONLY A BUNCH OF NONSENSES!First of all,WE DIDN'T KNOW AT ALL if the other spouse was present when that deposit was opened(it is possible that they opened it at his request, but WITHOUT HIS PERSONAL PRESENCE!),but even if it was so,the explanation WAS VERY SIMPLE:that safe-deposit box WAS MADE BY THE HUSBAND,who was the person with the money in the couple, and so HE COULD HAVE OPENED IT WITHOUT ANY NEED FOR HIS WIFE TO BE PRESENT!Then, since this guy was RICH,THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO PROBLEM FOR HIM to find or to get "fakes for jewelry" done VERY QUICKLY!And,besides that,WE DON'T KNOW how quickly his wife and her lover put their plan into action after he found out about the safety deposit box thing! So,THERE COULD HAVE BEEN PLENTY OF TIME for him to obtain those fake jewelry! Finally,IT IS CLEARLY MENTIONED in the story the "ironclad prenuptial agreement",that HE CLEARLY TOLD HER ABOUT before their marriage! So,the "pre-nup" EXISTED!But,even without a prenuptial agreement,IT WASN'T TRUE AT ALL that "the wife would be much better off financially with divorce"!SHE WAS THE ADULTERESS and, therefore,SHE WOULD HAVE ENDED WITH NOTHING(or almost nothing)! This was THE MORE THAN OBVIOUS REASON for "going through this"!Some people SHOULD REALLY THINK A LITTLE before writing IDIOCIES and WASITING OUR TIME with SUCH NONSENSES!
Covered all bases except that in very short story
Good
An almost perfect short story. Reason for burn given, and then wife and lover get burned. Now have a word with Marcie.
Too many stupidities in this short worthless story. Really -- a bank would allow one spouse to access a safety deposit box after denying it to other spouse - breach of contract and bank regulations be damned? How could guy find fakes for jewelry so quickly, and wife would not recognize? Wife would be much better off financially with divorce, and so why go through this (may be pre-nup, but nothing about that)? The story isn't even worth the time it took to write this note.
With a neat little twist in the very last sentance. Well done.
Superb plot and nicely arranged
in a flash story.
One of the best LW stories I've read.
Top ratings from me
and a personal salute to the author!
But there needed to be another page with the details of what happened to her after she reached her destination and found out about everything. How'd she get back (if she did). Did he have her changed with falsifying his ID while getting into the safety deposit box. Any other charges he could come up with. She comes back, he has her arrested and divorces her while she's in jail. She doesn't come back, he files for abandonment and he still gets a divorce. Sounds like a big win-win to me.
"Where's the sex?" ... in your hand, while you jerk off in your oatmeal, dickhead.
Good enough for four stars from me.
as she will definitely be up one and very soon. TK U MLJ LV NV
Should be to report all the jewelry as stolen by his wife. That would flag her passport so if she tried to re-enter the US she would be immediatly arrested.
Imaging what her reaction gonna be when she finds out jewelry are fake hahahahaha
Why would anyone feel reconciliation is deserved in most cheating situations? The cheater has deliberately lied, manipulated, and disrespected the other person, usually for and extended period of time. The cheater does not think of the other spouse or the marriage and instead only thinks of their own selfish desires. The cheater does not love their spouse otherwise they wouldn't do just about the most damaging thing possible to them. The cheater knows it's wrong and therefore tries to hide it.
There is no reason for anyone to reconcile with a deliberate cheater and most likely no reason when the drunk cheater puts themselves in the situation in which they cheat. Even an emotional and not physical affair is cheating.
I can definitely see forgiving a cheater for their actions but in almost all cases reconciliation is pathetic. The marriage has been permanently affected, trust is gone, and there will always be the memories.
Cheaters just need to accept responsibility for their actions and move on.
Well written but just another burn the cheating bitch story. I read too many of these . How about some where there is reconciliation instead of vengeance? 5 as always.
bigshot rich wankers always ruin the story for me. i was rooting for the cheater in this one.
Vote 1* for 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐅𝐀𝐓 𝐃𝐔𝐌𝐁 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐍𝐘 𝐖𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐄™ (that's what her clients call her) aka BONNIE/VASTIE aka NEEDYOU200 aka 5+ANNONY!
Love the zinger at the end! Enjoying your stuff, Thanks!
I agree with you that HDK is a master of the tongue-in-cheek and outright hilarious tale. Glad that I've discovered both of you.
