. . . I half expected Scott to be fired rather than promoted. After all, he just proved to his boss that he was completely unscrupulous. Instead, he gets his promotion, while James seems to get a mistress for the duration.

One part missing from the story: what made Scott think that his boss would be receptive to such a proposal in the first place? Such an offer, coming out of nowhere, would be more likely to end in discharge, not acceptance. If Scott wasn’t already promotable, why would James do the wrong thing for the company he ran, just for a piece of pussy?

We have to suspend disbelief somewhat in these fantasies, but these were details which bothered me in reading it.

It started bad with "I really need this raise, Caroline!...”. That is not someth8ng a husband would say to his wife. It would be “we need this raise.”

He doesn’t know his boss well enough to offer his wife. An employee who is not on a first name basis with his boss in this day and age isn’t close enough to make the offer legitimately.

And was this guy actually his boss? In this corporate environment today if you can’t just stop by to talk with your boss then something is wrong. This is written by someone who doesn’t know corporate structure today. This is directly out of the 50’s where everyone had offices with assistants outside the door. A boss who cannot or will not meet with an employee quicker than a couple of days is not realistic. This is an out of touch organization if so. This smells more like a warehouse filler employee at Amazon trying to see the CEO.

His wife said she didn’t have any thoughts of her husband watching but had restraints and a blindfold ready indicates otherwise.

Total lack of discussion between husband/wife on a subject that came out of left field.

A couple of negatives but nothing to spoil the story; more dialogue, especially between husband and wife when discussing their plan would have been more believable, and a slower, more gradual build up to proposing said plan to James. Also the use of two first person view points was a little jarring, better to have just Caroline's thoughts and emotions told in this way and Scott to be in the third person, a technique used by many successful and well known authors, trust me it works.

Otherwise the whole thing was very impressive.

I liked the end: does she continue to see James? Or is this a one off? A second part would be nice but you'd have to think of another twist to keep it original. But I believe it works well as it is.

Sadly, more often than not I find few characterisations in Lit stories to resonate with me in any way; they're just genitals with names on, and not even believable to their authors.

In this tale there are three characters of immediate memorability: Caroline, her irritatingly mundane 'hiya babe' husband Scott, and his creepy boss James. So successful has the author been in portraying the two guys that I was left regretting the fact that Caroline hadn't handcuffed the pair of 'em together and gone off on a night out with the girls.

Another unusual aspect of what the author has much too modestly described as 'a little story' is the element of tension that stirs within the tale; there's no guaranteed suck-fuck-cum outcome here as per so much else in the predictable Lit oeuvre: one is kept guessing until the end as to how the threesome scene will work out.

No complaints from this reader, then, merely the observation that the author's creation -- Caroline --comes across (literally) as much too strong, feisty, and intelligent a character ever to have fetched up with the repellent Scott in the first place.

She's no meek submissive but an adventurer, one whose erotic odyssey surely has a lot of life, and a lot of sex, left in it. Hopefully, the author will delight us all with further tales of Caroline and her delving ever deeper into her own belatedly awoken rich carnality.
