Not sure which part of the world has the sun rise in the north west sky. For the rest of us the sun rises in the east. I didn't bother to read any further, didn't even give it a one.

I led with the unusual sunrise to create a desire on the part of the reader to want to know the reason for the anomaly. It is revealed by the end of the first paragraph that the setting is the planet Epheadra. A few of it's differences from Earth are mentioned. More about Epheadrda is revealed in the second paragraph.

I'm sorry some didn't enjoy the opening mystery.

It's OK, though. If the sun rising in the wrong place was jarring then the alien female anatomy exposed later in the yarn probably would have been really upsetting.
