I haven't read the next part of your story, but this forms a solid foundation for further development. Unfortunately, you do not give us much of the guy's reactions. Right now, he's little more than a cipher, as if anyone able to achieve an erection would do. What do we know about him so far? Only that he reads in public, has a new job, has no girlfriend and responds with gentle humor to casual conversation. I hope there is some character development in subsequent stories.
