What a refreshing, heart warming story, so appropriate at today's point in history. Lessons taught; lessons learned. Magnificent. Well thought out theme, well presented. Your writing skills are superb.

From a technical standpoint, I found it flawless. I'm a pilot and a retired Army officer (WWII and Korea). I was, in more ways than one, a mustang -- got a direct commision from M/Sgt and later a Regular Army commission -- and share your opinion of the changes in the military over the years. I look forward to your next story...keep them coming!
Very good story. I served in the Army and the Air Force for a total of 20 years and I loved it. Thanks
right away but got distracted trying to finish a story of my own.
This was really well done. Your knowledge of the material and of Army life lends an immediacy and authenticity that makes the story a great read. The characters were engaging and made you care.
Good stuff, keep it up.
Regards, Jack
Your stories with a military theme are as good as it gets. Thanks for putting a realistic face on our troops. They are a wonderful group, as a friend told me when he came back from 6 months in Baghdad, these kids are redeeming their whole generation! I even pretty much agree with your views on all politicians, party doesn't matter to them, only self promotion.
The romance almost snuck up on us. Shared experiences are a good foundation for love and marriage.

I remember chasing jackrabbits with an M4A3 tank. We gained on the straightaway and lost in the turns. Army aviation then was L5 Grasshoppers. This infantryman had nothing but respect for the guys in their ragbags giving us overhead eyes.
Thank you for you service. Thank for the taking the time and effort to convey this stimulating, tender loving story.
A BRILLIANT WONDERFUL TALE.
More like this please.
Thank you Dinsmore for this great story.
AAA+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
That was fricken awesome -
It rang so true and it had all the aspects of the real world in it - some exaggerated - maybe - but realistic enough.
You just gotta do some more heh -
The flight training and development was spot on. The personal transition from proper within command structure started true to protocol but with a four year gap with no contact went from 0 to 100 in a single conversation, which was (at least for me) not realistic. But no matter, I loved the ending and wish their fictitious selves well.
the para rescue people put their lives on the line saving downed pilots are 1 st class even though the phrase so others may live started with the Coast Guard way back before planes saving fisher men the Bering sea. everyone owes a vote of thank you to all of them. well written . stumble on this 1 by accident
this is a story anyone who likes drama, aviation, respect, the military, and romance should read.
Well Done Dinsmore,
Well Done.
Like the story, Ike most all of your work. Military aviation is special, well maybe not the AF. I was One of the air wing staff "quacks" on CV66 after VN, from 76-78.
I've read this story 3 times now and enjoyed it each time. I, too, was a combat aviator in the military serving a total of 24 years. Dinsmore tells it like it is among people with integrity and courage. I really wish he were still writing on this board.
