For those that I may have missed, as well as to those who commented anon, THANK YOU so much!
a well crafted story. Arthur was a loveable character! Thanks for sharing this.
Your account of Arthur’s last Christmas makes a bittersweet story and provides the Angel of Death with something new for its repertoire.
Just a wonderful and very different piece of work from my favorite writer on this site.
Well written with good character development. Should do well in the contest.
All the best with the competition. You deserve to win for coming up with something so utterly different.
My little 6 inch tree for me and the cat has a new meaning..."Like putting lipstick on a pig"
very good story and thanks for the one liner!
I can only hope to have as fortunate a grasp on life.
Being from Texas I had chuckles with the accented words, really spiced up the read...thanks
Happy Holidays and good luck~
So true to life that I almost feel I know Authur, and so touching an ending.
Incredibly poignant! I felt the full range of emotions and the ending was perfect. Good luck on the contest!
I hope you win the contest, this is a very well thought out unusual story with a neat twist at the end. Bravo!
and quite moving. With best wishes to you,and kind thoughts to those who will feel alone during the Christmas holiday.
A very good Christmas story about a lonely man. This is closer to real life for more people than we know. Thanks for the good read.
Terrific story. Christmas is supposed to be happy, but for some (and you know who you are) it is a very sad time... one of sad memories of violence, or lost loves, or deaths in the family. Your story fits this catagory, it was so poignant. Have a peaceful Christmas.
Excellent twist at the end. When I die I hope I die smiling, whether it be from reality or fantasy, I'm not sure I care. Keep writing!
As an older guy I hope never to find myself in the position of being old and alone. If, however, Elaine or someone like her is how I transition ... that wouldn't be a bad way to go.
