Someone, please write a 'How To' article called "Reading Comprehension: The Basics." Some of the morons commenting either can't comprehend what they read or are unable to keep their stories and browser tabs straight.

This is high-quality, entertaining, and very visceral writing! NOT the usual cliché-filled LW tale.

Steve has turned himself around and can do better than those low tier women.

Especially better than Becky who jumps anothers bone just a few feet away from him.

All your Steve characters are fucking losers, weak wimps and cucks. If it's not a Regina then a Ann or Becky

@Oatmeal1969 STEVE is the MC. *Danny* is his son. Danny most certainly should NOT 'abandon reconciliation with either partner and move on with someone new.' At the end of the story, he's maybe 5 years old. Way, waay too young for what you're suggesting.

AnonymousAnonymous4 months ago

Great story; complicated, like real life. It’s too bad so many commentators need you to put them to bed with some comfy closure. Life’s usually how you wrote this, a series of imperfect, not totally clear options, with lots of questions and different directions life can go. For people who neeed certainty, it’s obvious that whatever, Steve has, and unless he changes and becomes a materially less mature and responsible person than he has been, he’ll have a good life with someone he wants to be with. There you go folks, I know Slur’s ending requires you to use your teeny brains and imagination . . . Well done Slir. 🤙🏿

Amber is a narcissistic girl child. Becky might have grown up some but is still not a long term solution. He needs to drop these babes from his past and start looking to the future.

Oatmeal1969Oatmeal19694 months ago

This was disappointing... getting to the end with no conclusion or path forward.

Danny needs some help but most of his problems were created by his partners ,as far as we know based on the story.

Becky is a no-go in her current state. She needs to accept blame and find a way to rebuild trust. reconciliation with her would probably piss a lot of readers off.

Amber wants him to make all of the sacrifices to be together. Now she needs to build trust in him after choosing career over him, then finding her with another man when he hoped to try to rekindle a romance, instead ripping the bandaid off over the damage caused by Becky. Basically, she's not ready and may never be ready.

I think a new chapter should see Danny abandon reconciliation with either partner and move on with someone new.

Well, that is essentially all of sircuck's stories, where the essential element is piling on as many ways as he can to infantilize the male character, without immediately getting carted away into a padded room. They are written for an audience who have an emotional need to revel in the evil of promoting the ideal of gender inequality, essentially the scum of the earth.

Another story with a weak minded MC who can’t get his shit together enough to pull the plug on an abusive relationship/marriage with a bitch wife!! One can only hope that there is only a very few men out there with that low of self esteem!!! Then for the final problem that seems to be common with this author…. If you are going to post it FINISH THE DAMN STORY!!!

I really enjoyed this story. It hit me in the "feels" and I could actually perceive what Steve felt at Becky's betrayal. It wasn't just fucking in their bed days before the divorce, either. It's denied in the story - but I think we all know she fucked someone on that Spring Break. There's no way she didn't. Her continued denial just isn't believable. No matter how Steve's feelings towards Becky soften... He should never go back to Becky. She now see's the mistake she made, and is looking to rope Stave back as a baby sitter and cash cow to improve her miserable life. Fuck that! And Amber? Steve is never going to move 7 hours away from his kid. So that relationship is DOA. No... He has to continue dating until he finds the right one. Neither Becky nor Amber fit the bill. Rating = 4

AnonymousAnonymousabout 1 year ago

Complex story. Quite realistic. It is interesting that from a moral hazard standpoint, her drunken fling with Kevin right before divorce finalized was no objectively terrible, but from a subjective standpoint, given she too was thinking out a halt to the divorce m, and with him being there in the same house, was just utterly devastating. How sad. Unlike others, I trust what the author laid out that she did not cheat in thr sense of adultery during her college time, but was certainly failing the husband test while on Spring Break or at other parties or study groups. The biggest problem is she was angry at him and Danny for what she thought she was supposed to have in her life and as the title says, live wasn't enough. She then decided to end their marriage by filing after he made another accusation about her fidelity and their marriage (could certainly understand her perspective). She got terrible advice and had a cheap lawyer and backfired. Her idea to live in the same house, was actually brilliant, almost, because then she slit the wrist of their future with her stupid fling with Kevin. Given her own reaction over it and their talk later, I think she is being honest that it was the first time. She was mortified what she had done and had suddenly eviscerated any reconciliation. The real problem in her marriage was her anger and resentment. They needed counseling and she needed therapy but the nasty divorce filing made that intractable. In the end, she finally got therapy and realized her immaturity, but too late. Instead of making thr most of the life she had, she chased a stupid dream, fed by bullshit artists, and put herself into a shitty mess. She gained maturity by the end, but too late. They are on good enough terms tk be fuck buddies and coparents but they won't fully reconcile. Again she killed that with hernfling with Kevin, and despite it being technically not cheating given how advanced the divorce, the lack of separation and that both he and she wanted to reconcile and stop the divorce (though only communicated later), made it so painful and destructive. Don't see Becky as evil or even bitchy. Just immature and self-centered, and manipulated by her study group partners. Again having to care for Danny, live with her parents, work four nights a week, try to take classes, get therapy, etc made her grow up finally. But hey too late. He won't end up with Amber. She likes him but he won't move to Atlanta and she will chase her own dream. He is young enough yo find someone new. Doubt it will be Becky 2.0, no matter how bad she wants it. But it is her turn to chase him. Just don't think he can subjectively get past what happened with her filing for divorce and then screwing Kevin despite almost being divorced. His hopes had been built up and were crushed. Hard to come.back for that. They can be friends and coparents. She did nothing evil. Technically didn't commit adultery, just crazy circumstances where he was subjected to it and had his heart ripped out thinking they had a chance. Their communication sucked. Anyways deep and realistic story. He needs to chases his own dreams and not just live to suit someone else's. Amber really isn't a healthier relationship for him either. He needs someone new in his life.

The Spring break trip is unbelievable...

rn2711rn2711about 1 year ago

I agree with Ramaza. One of the most believable story I read hear. Real emotions, real life.

He married too young. Becky was way immature. She had to give up her plans for the future and couldn't handle it. Was she cheating on her vacation? I think so. The fling was way too easy..

It seems Amber loves him but doesn't want to settle down. She urges hom to move away without thinking of his child. Again, way too immature. She wants to keep him till she will settle down.

.so, what should he do? Exactly what he is doing. Liv3 bachelor life till something good will come alone.

No way in hell. Fool me once not happening again

RamazaRamazaabout 1 year ago

Randi, this is absolutely one of your best stories that I have read so far, very believable characters, with a lot of emotions, yet seams like this is something that could happen in real life.

As far the story goes, I think that both Becky and Amber are dead ends in a relationship perspective, He has been burned by Becky, and as you know, once bitten, twice shy, also you never go back to a misfire, Amber wants to have her cake and eat it at the same time, she isn’t mature enough to settle down and work on a family.

So that leave him with the option to look for someone new to love.

Love how realistic the life of the kids seem after their married.

They’re young. Life can be hard, and threw them a curveball. They didn’t back away from the plate quick enough and the pitch hit them in the back (ok enough baseball metaphors). (Well ok a little more). So they walk to first base and are still hurting, trying to catch there breath. Then life threw to first base and they were tagged out. (Ok there enough).

Usually like this author's stories and this one was for the most part pretty good. Nobody was perfect in the story, the MC had some morals but was not without his flaws, his ex-wife did things wrong but was not evil. and Amber had some good points but plenty of bad. A story about flawed people can be quite enjoyable and this was. But that ending was not at all enjoyable, either should have had a proper resolution or a part 2. 3 stars unfortunately, a very regretful 3 stars.

Hmm...the only one I'm rooting for is Steve. Becky is a proven liar and cheater, as has been said, no way she didn't go to Spring Break and not get some strange. Steve will always be wondering if she's cheating so no way he shpuld put himself through that hell again. Amber is a great piece of ass but will never be exclusive. She's not the settling down kind of gal. Steve needs to build a relationship with his son and quit fucking Becky, there is no happy ending with her. He also needs to quit listening to his mom where it comes to Becky, she doesn't have his best interest at heart. Run Steve Run!

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 3 years ago

Dumb ending! He should have totally dropped Becky. Becky was a conniving bitch cheater. Becky’s spring break week was proof that she was a cheater. All of her friends were going south to party and have sex. There is no way that Becky wouldn’t be cheating during spring break! He should moved in with Amber since she really cares for him. As for Danny he can get Danny for holidays and summer vacation.

unfinished story

It's unsatisfying to have an incomplete story like this. I would like to have seen the guy be a bit more decisive, moving on rather than repeating old mistakes.

RamazaRamazaabout 3 years ago

Steve is a really sad and in some ways weak character, who can’t make up his mind, Becky should have been dropped as a bad habit, once a cheater always a cheater, and Amber is a great shag because she’s doing the rounds and has no interest in having a relationship where she has to stay exclusive and faithful. All in all a very good but also sad story where no one gets what they want or need

Why does he weight himself down with his fat assed ex? Amber is a booty call and there's all those women who are hitting on him. Like he said, he could probably get laid every night. Every time he looks at Becky he's going to see her with someone else's dick in her mouth.

And I don't get how his own mom puts Becky abandoning the family and cheating on him. That's a load of crap. As long as he let's that cheap whore hang around his neck like an albatross he'll never move forward.

Good Story

I'm more disappointed in the critics then I am of the story. Very few marriage have chance for success when those involved are young, stupid and pregnant. They are not mature enough to handle the stress and strain of a marriage plus adding a baby to the situation. I enjoyed the manner in which the writer took us on the journey. There were parts that could have been better, but Slirpuff produce a good story and we read it for free. To Slirpuff: keep up the good work!!

One Of The Few Times

I feel you left the story hanging and I don't feel pleased.

Why does she have a guy over to 'study' anyway, why not the whole group? They for some reason have drinks, they start kissing and it 'just happened' that they end upstairs in the old marital bed? I don't see this woman taking any responsibility for anything without trying to put it back on someone else. I also wouldn't believe for a minute that she told the truth that nothing happened on her spring break trip either, she just isn't the kind to inspire trust in me. I'd have been an ass and made it clear if she went, Danny and I wouldn't be there if she bothered to come home but then again I wouldn't have put up with her being with her buddies six days/nights a week anyway. If we were going to set up ground rules for moving back in together I would have added a couple of more lines. If there was going to be any studying done in our home there would be no alcohol, no other people anywhere but the ground floor and nothing in the home with other people that wouldn't pass the spouse test. But obviously it wouldn't have made any difference after all she was trying to save her marriage and was going to call off the divorce anyway so as long as Steve didn't know there was no harm, no foul.

"You're a better person than me. I would have dumped the bitch and moved on. Life is too short to spend it on someone that stupid." I think this pretty much sums it up. My gut feeling is he would end up back with a more grown up Becky, but there would be no more study friends or groups. Just because I didn't like the ending this time I knocked off one star. AnonymousAnonymousover 4 years ago
my one nit-pick

in the beginning of the divorce you say, "my parents picked my side, her parents picked hers"

and then later on you have his mother, "you're both at fault, you should give her another shot, i'm not saying it's right or wrong, she was drunk."

so either you're inconsistent as an author, or the mother had done a complete 180, without us knowing why exactly. all the time the mother was rooting for them getting back together, she never actually made a single solid point. not one. her argument devolved into, "but i wannnaaaaa" so i guess she really wants the family back together, and doesn't care why or how.

i agree that his wife isn't some evil psycho. she's a child. still is one, tbh. she rarely accepts blame. always wants to share it, or avoid it. she's petty. she mistakes easy flakey friends with loyalty. she decided to fleece him because, "i thought i could get away with it." and then only said, "i only realized it was wrong when it didn't work out" she doesn't even sound sorry she tried to financially rape someone.

and her chance to grow was when they were tentatively sharing that house. she should have cut those fair weather friends out of her life by then, and found better ones. the cheating is moot. these friends pushed her to basically throw away her family for easy fun times. those aren't friends. it was less about the sex and more about her returning back to her addiction. for her, the addiction is the carefree life of being single with yuppie kids sponging off their mommies and daddies.

you wrote a super interesting set of characters. really enjoyed this.

sorry but it takes two. She listens to tge wrong people, shuts him out blames him for having a kid etc. And HE is supposed to overlook all that and "be the bigger or better person" is the impression i got from his mother. Uh nope sorry, the fucking someone else was just the straw that broke the camels back, it was the last nail not the first hit of the hammer. IRL he would need to do his best for his son, and go with amber or someone else. Going back to that one nope, you cant unring a bell or unshoot a bullet. She killed the marriage off and they need to move forward separately. Him still screwing her is a BAAAAAAD idea. Unless its anal then its damned unlikely she will get knocked up that way. lol had to toss a little humor in there.

Steve wasn’t a wimp or a sucker, what he was, was a Chump! That’s what he should have had tattooed on his forehead. Had he just let the divorce happen without trying to stop it, gotten away from his cheating wife, and steered clear of his domineering parents, he could’ve had a great life. But enough about the fiction. I agree with a comment someone else made, I don’t understand why this story even “is”. It just rambles in circles and then stops without an ending. For five pages.

Only read the last five recent comments, but . . .

. . . I can guess the rest of them: Steve was a wimp and a cuck since Becky got laid a few days before the divorce was final. Some commenters don’t seem to have the first flaming idea what love really is, and Slirp tried to convey that Steve still loved Becky but kept letting anger get in the way. Actually mature men eventually get over anger, not let it ruin their lives.

The ending sucked

Fucking Becky in the end took it from a 5* story to 3*. Let the bitch live with exactly what she wanted, a single life without the burden of a husband. After his speech to her about how she killed any feelings he had for her by fucking her asshole study buddy I can't believe he takes back up with her. Her excuse about how she hadn't been laid in many months was pure crap because he hadn't been laid in the same amount of time. Another sucky attempt at a RACC ending without actually coming out and slapping them back together.

Realistic ending but not much of a story. You can talk about lives of ordinary people but dragging it 5 pages without any plot to go with seems rather wasteful.

I really don't see much reason for this story.
