"Is your daughter in college, Mrs. Abel?" Marcus asked.
"No, she dropped out," she replied, her voice heavy with disappointment. "She was supposed to read Economics but she only stayed a year in the university."
"Okay, get lost" he said to Jinx, apparently losing interest in her. She said something extremely rude to him and stalked off. He could hear her feet pounding up the stairs and eventually the loud slam of a door.
"I'm sorry, detective, for my daughter's behaviour" Mrs. Abel said apologetically. "She's really angry about my husband's disgusting affair."
"Yes, I can see that," Marcus answered cheerfully. "Tell me, Mrs. Abel, what do you do?"
"I'm a professor of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Amsterdam."
"Really? But yet you hate robots. That's very interesting."
"I didn't say I hate robots, I only hate sex robots. They should all be gathered up and destroyed."
Huh, thought Marcus. At least mother and daughter shared something in common. They both hated Rose. And either one of them could have killed her.

xxxecilover 11 years agoA sexy treatment of the thought-provoking implications of sex-botics. There are many layers and undercurrents at work here: Chiamaka suffers a rather miserable life as a whore, but the sex-robots she complains about that might take her job would also take away the danger. At the same time, if women are second-class citizens, that would most certainly depress demand for something like a sex-bot. (But real women would suffer)
As for Mrs. Abel, it isn't a one-way street. Men and women really do have meaningful differences that complicate total equality. Furthermore, women can betray men too, modern women initiate divorce easily, and can soak a man for alimony. Making sex-bots verrrry appealing. A whole new dimension to the battle of the sexes. Very exciting.
Anonymousover 11 years agoAwesome as always!!! I've been waiting anxiously for every chapter of this story, just can't seem to get enough. Five stars and thank you once again for another awesome chapter in the "Marcus Bleak" saga!!! Biting nails waiting for next installment!!
