So I'm a sucker having read everything written by Mickey Spillane that I could lay my hands on. Keep going, it sounds like you've got a good run at a great story. Take a look at Richard Prather's Shell Scott mysteries as well. He had a touch with humor in the private eye stories.

I do hope you'll write more of this 'homage' to a the genre. I remember reading these a long time ago and I enjoyed them.
