You did an excellent job of emulating the British writers of the 18th and 19th century: John Cleland, Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, Thackery, Dickens, etc. I strongly dislike that florid, overblown style but your interpretation of that style, and the verisimilitude of placing this story in that time frame was very well done. So I gave you five stars even though I could't stand the plot.
