Liked the idea of the story

but the execution didn't quite work for me. While the inspiration for the party and the inclusion of the urns is touching, there's not enough of an emotional connection in this story - with those that remain (Miss Emma), the helpers that set up and serve the party, nor with the invited guests. For example, Lily and Gina are interchangeable as there's nothing unique about them. Bud may be Rob's best friend, but Bud doesn't do or say anything that indicates their closeness - except for Rob's statement that Bud is his best friend. There needs to be better character development so we can see these people as individuals and care about what happens to them. I feel like an outsider looking in, rather than as a participant, included in the story.
