Clare started crying like a baby.

Aji reached over and touched me, tearful, she grinned, "You're my great big hero."

I felt really good. I thought for once all David's money didn't get him what he wanted. I started singing, "I'm proud to be an Okie from Muskogee, a place where even squares can have a..."

Aji interrupted me, "What's an Okie? And what's that you're singing?"

I was so happy I laughed, "Sweetheart; its part of a new language you haven't learned yet, it's called "Redneck", and it means I love you."

She took my hand and smiled; we were headed off to my home, the land of the free - all four of us...

The end.

Thank you for reading my sequel to basidea211's story. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. Vote if you like, and leave a comment if you're inclined. Should you choose to make an anonymous comment perhaps you might leave a "pretend" name at the bottom. In that way, if perhaps I'd want to leave an answer to your interesting remark I could use your pretend name to begin my address.

Thank you very much.

This is a new low in twisted logic, blaming assignment, and just general incoherence.

The MC is just pathetic from beginning to end and makes not just iffy decisions, but irrational decisions. Why would he constantly put himself in insanely dangerous situations without owning real guns?

“Should I be miffed that my wife finally had to fuck someone to close a deal, or should I just accept it as part of our arrangement?” Holy shit, just go buy your cock cage right now. Otherwise, throw those clubs in the fucking trash, then toss her out after them.

He blames himself for Clare turning into a whore??? She made ZERO effort to stay with him.

Ajmaani asks for a strong, black coffee and he orders a latte?

The bit about a horse’s parts just confused the eff out of me.

And I have a hard time believing that Brea was that altruistic.

Well done, Jed. I enjoyed your story, and am thankful for the giftedness of your writing. It held my interest throughout. I liked the happy ending where he rescued his ex, saved his son, and married a beautiful woman. The only thing left out was somehow that Russian prick didn't feel any physical pain.

Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald: "Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me. They possess and enjoy early, and it does something to them, makes them soft where we are hard, and cynical where we are trustful, in a way that, unless you were born rich, it is very difficult to understand."

David is the examplar of Fitzgerald's pithy observation. Connal is the antithesis, Clare and Aji are the ostensible victims. Those are oversimplications but point to the lessons of this complex, brilliant story. Kudos aplenty.
