Great story

One suggestion, why not include the English translations within the story itself. It would be hard to believe Patrick wouldn't ask what Michael (or the speaker) said at the very moment the words were spoken.

about translations

You have a point about the Danish phrases, and I did worry about them being disruptive whether I put in translations or not. My choice was to have the text just before or after explain the content if not the exact words. Or sometimes the meaning is less important than the reaction elicited. Eg Michael coming into the kitchen to get some attention at the end of this chapter. And remember we're seeing this story from Patrick's POV, so if he needs to know the exacts words in the moment they're said, you'll get them too.

Let me take this opportunity to thank all of you for your comments and votes. I wouldn't keep writing this story without the support and encouragment. Critical comments are welcome too, but I do wish you'd leave your Lit member name, so I can get back to you via the feedback function (eg I wanted to know eaxctly what anon found cheesy in ch 4, as I'd probably agree :-)

I like how these are written and you take the time to translate the stuff in Danish.

Danish

I' m fascinated by the written Danish. It looks so weird and unfamiliar, because it's not a language that English speakers ever see, unless they're stamp collectors. That is very strange, considering that half of England was occupied by the Danes for more than 200 years, and we had three Danish kings.
