"Very nice," Nathan said. "They've kind of been dead for a while now. I think you're safe from them."

"Right," Murphy said, smiling at Nathan.

He leaned down and kissed her. "I'm all done with work. Would you like to go upstairs?"

Murphy sighed. "No, thanks," she said with another smile. "I think I should go home. Last week of high school tests are murder. Tomorrow is the last normal day of high school as I know it, and it's after nine. I'm going to go home, take a shower, and go to bed." She kissed Nathan on the forehead, stood up, and walked out the door.

One week later, Murphy accepted her diploma, and the position as valedicorian. It was fun, being that she had a GPA of 4.7, and everyone that she cared about was there. No sign of Gloria, thank God, and even Nathan had come to the ceremony. He met up with Murphy afterwards, and gave her a hug. They'd been hanging out more these past few weeks, and it was safe to say that they were dating.

"So...Dartmouth?" Nathan asked.

Murphy nodded. "Yes."

"I think they have hospitals up there..."

"What?" Murphy asked.

Nathan chuckled. "I have a job offer at Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital," he answered. "It's near the campus...so...I was thinking...if I took the job, would you like to move in together?"

"Yes!" Murphy cried.

"Well...I'd like to give you this," he said, reaching into his pocket and taking out a diamond right. "Your Moms are okay with it, and so are my Dads, but only if you are, too." Then, Nathan got down on one knee. "Murph, will you marry me?"

"Yes," Murphy said, a polite smile on her face. "I will...there is something else for me, too," she said as Nathan put the ring onto her finger.

"What is it?" he asked.

Murphy sighed. "I'm pregnant," she said quietly. "I'm about six weeks...and it's yours."

Nathan smiled. "That sounds perfect," he said. "Got any names in mind?" he asked her.

"Tiffany for a girl, John for a boy," she answered.

Nathan smiled again. "Wonderful names, sweetheart," he said.

"Murphy?"

Murphy turned around and saw Gloria standing there. "Nate, could you give us a minute?" she asked. "She's an old friend," she whispered. "She was my middle school principal."

"Of course," Nathan said, kissing her before walking away.

"I see you've moved on quickly," Gloria said shortly. "Is that an engagement ring?" she asked.

Murphy sighed. "I kinda sorta dated him in my early high school days," she said quietly. "And...well, if you must know, I'm pregnant."

"So you cheated on me?"

"Nobody knows about that," she said quietly. "Do you want to ruin everything and tell everyone now?"

Gloria sighed. "No," she said. "I just...came here to see if we had another chance, and to tell you that I love you, but I guess we don't have another chance," she said quietly. "But it doesn't matter. I've found someone else, too."

"You have?" Murphy asked.

Gloria nodded. "Yes. Harmony went back to Boston and Violet and I became close. We fucked in my office about a week ago."

Murphy blinked, trying her best not to cry. "Oh," she said.

"Yes. We're moving in together next fall. She's going to NYU."

"Very nice," she answered, nodding Nathan back over. "Well, it was great to see you," Murphy said. "Come on, Nate. Our parents are waiting," she said, walking away.

"She's a great girl," Gloria said to Nathan.

"She is," Nathan said.

"Hold onto her," Gloria said. "You just never know when a girl like that can change her mind," she said, and walked away from him.
