If a woman raises you most of your life that is your mother. A parent doesn’t have to be of blood relation it is a matter of action than DNA. So based on that this is incest.

Apart from cheating on her husband, what is taboo or incestuous about this? Only writing saying his mother makes it sound like incest.

Writing and story is okay, but totally wrong section. Your writing kept me reading. Ignoring the mother references helped.

Chelsea is Jake's step-mother so no incest.

I do not count it cheating since Jake's dad who is Chelsea's husband is having an affair.

Moral taboos are getting bent if not broken but this is becoming a weird romance rather than a taboo story . Definitely not incest since there is no blood member involved with either Chelsea or Jake .

Morals are definitely being bent but incest requires blood family members. A step mom and step-son as in Chelsea and Jake means there are social and moral taboos involved but no incest .
