There is the potential for a novella here

These stories of the relationship developing into love between Kiyomi and Damon are a pure delight in the meeting of two so very different cultures. I look forward to a third part in which Kiyomi's worthless husband takes a trip to some other country and kills himself, and the two of them are then free to marry and have half-gaijin babies.
