Sprite-Snowdrop Tales Ch. 02

"Oh Leaf, how can you be interested in such a klutz? I mean ... I could hurt you or something."

Leaf was inwardly cheering "Yesss!" but calmly told the pretty Snowdrop,

"Don't worry about me, you know I can take care of myself, but I also would like to take care of you. You need me, Snow." (He was being a bit bolder now!)

"Well, I need someone or something, that's for sure. (She gave him a shy smile.) I like you, Leaf. You are the strongest boy I know. You are sure of yourself and you are kind. I have watched around the weaker boys, you always make sure they are included in the games. I like that."

Snow answered, now losing some of her shyness and expressing her feelings to a boy for the very first time. She took her hand from under his, placed it on top, and gently massaged the back of his hand with her slender fingers. Leaf was emboldened to stand and pull Snowdrop up from the branch, and toward him. He kissed her ... a soft but deliberate kiss.

Snowdrop responded immediately, placed her arms up around his neck, raised herself up on the tips of her tiny toes, and flapped her wings happily, as she kissed him back. She opened her lips, and let her tongue gently brush his lips. Leaf responded by doing the same, but gently pushed his tongue past her lips into her warm, sweet-tasting mouth. The two young blue sprites: she the prettiest, and he the most handsome, kissed passionately for several minutes, unaware that they had also risen several feet off the ground wings beating wildly, and tiptoes no longer needed.

When they broke from the kiss and came back to earth, Snowdrop smiled, facing down so he could not see her start to tear up, and she put her head on his bare chest. She brought her arms in, and placed the palms of her hands on his chest on either side of her face, as he encircled her with his arms. She felt safe. When they finally broke from the embrace, they just held hands loosely in front, and he was just about to speak. She sensed from the look in his eyes that it was going to be something like, "I love you," so she put a slender index finger to his lips and just said,

"Don't say it Leaf. Not yet."

He smiled and kissed her finger, then her forehead and said,

"I was just going to say ... ah ... It's time for the water ball games."

She gave him a very relieved giggle, and answered,

"Yes, Leaf, you're right." She then quickly broke away and flew quickly toward the pond as if to challenge him to a race.

Leaf followed quickly letting her win the race, but then he picked her up, flew over the water and playfully threw her into the pond. The other sprites, already gathered for this event, laughed or made remarks. Blossom looked down at the smile on Snowdrop's face from the shore, still hand in hand with Clam and said,

"Uh-huh! Someone is up to something!"

Snowdrop looked up, now with Leaf next to her in the pond, smiled at her pretty friend, and playfully scolded her,

"Quiet, Blossom!"
