And broke the lock on the cage. It's a toy and with very little effort he broke the hasp holding the lock and he was free. Next thing he did was start a fire using pieces of the broken TV screen. Within a few minutes the hut was ablaze. It took the Coast Guard about 3 hours to get there. After he told them what happened, they took him back to the mainland where the Police were called and Gloria was arrested. He sued for and won millions of dollars. He was completely retired and enjoyed the rest of his life. You REALLY didn't think this mess through. Just plain awful.

I hope you put more thought into your books because this was just awful. Even if he hadn't escaped, when she shows up he would have simply killed her, buried the body and gone home.
