There is a germ of an interesting story here but some unnecessary elements suggest that if the story is to be developed it should be in the category of Sci-Fi and Fantasy. A plausible romance does not require the visit to the Singapore cemetery to take place in 2042. Why introduce the ghost of Ian Tan? (Though why he speaks in Romanian could be an interesting twist.)
