A bit more information regarding Marsyas:
In Greek mythology, Marsyas was a satyr (like a faun, only more interested in sex). He prided himself on his ability to play a musical instrument called the double oboe (like an oboe, only with two mouths; you can see one in the movie "300"). He was so confident in fact that he challenged Apollo, the god of, among other things, music. When Apollo won the challenge, he punished Marsyas by flaying him.
Moral: never challenge a god. Duh!
A little about the historical Julia:
Julia Drusilla was one of the sisters of the Roman Emperor Caligula. The two were rumored to have been incestuous lovers, though this is not known for certain. Further rumors claimed she may have prostituted herself., among other scandalous things. When she died of illness, Caligula had her deified as Diva (a title indicating godhood) Drusilla Panthea.
