The world knows and understands jerking/jacking off or similar slang terms but since there's no word in the dictionary "wank/wanking/wanked" don't use it but join the world. Its but some localized ism so most readers fail to understand what is meant.,

The term wank is more commonly used in the UK than jerk off in the context I used it. I hope my stories have a 'local' feel and I'd hope this doesn't put people off as they read them.

No. Your readers understood your phrase. I don't think, though, that you had Jake show as much guilt as he should have had.

The dialect and very believable details make this a realistic and interesting tale. More of a real story than just material for...wanking.
